I’m glad you’re enjoying the side characters of One Piece. They’re one of the things that make this anime/manga so great. Not only are the main characters fantastic but there’s so much creativity put into the small characters. They’re all so much fun to watch.

Yeah... Technically until Luffy's first bounty he could capture those pirates and bring to the navy, but that would be a detour on Luffy's journey, so he wouldnt want it. Now he has a bounty too it is too dangerous! The navy will try to capture him on sight, no matter his intentions! Actually, even before the bounty it would be a hard task as the navy would just attack as soon as they saw the pirate flag.

The downside is that it makes it tougher on reactors who get comments telling them "Don't judge that character, you don't know their full story" or shit like that, or otherwise hinting at stuff with their future-knowledge. Comments here haven't been too bad, I think, but I've definetly seen some of that on the YouTube uploads of these.

Shanks hasn't ONLY been on that island for the past 8 years. He's been going about doing his business and stuff. He just happens to be staying at that one for some time, like he did at fuusha village, and Hawk-eye just managed to catch up with him there.

Pirates in general aren't viewed in a good light in OP's world. But that's never mattered to Luffy, getting a bounty gives him notoriety. The bounty value in One Piece is just a metric for how much of a threat the authorities think someone is.

One piece has a really strong theme of presenting a character in one light and then either suddenly or gradually making you see them in the opposite way. It's impressive how Oda makes you swap between hating and liking a character so easily, one of the many reasons why OP is the goat

In the manga Oda likes to do covers page stories about what happens to villains after Luffy defeats them, that was them animating the Buggy covers page story into a sort of Canon Filler. They don't do it very often in the anime but it's really cool in the manga for Oda to show their stories don't just end when they're defeated by Luffy

Thats one of the best things at One Piece. You see every charakter a second time or more. You cant forget any character :D
