So one thing I dont remember.... I know Luffy, Sanji and Zoro get plenty... but what about Usopp and Namie, do either of them ever get at least ONE badass fight at some point in the series? You know so we can see that theyre actually there for a reason and not just occupying a space/slot?

it seems like One Piece just started 3 weeks go and already up to ep 32. If only Black Clover or Promised Neverland or Demon Slayer got this kinda love thered be a LOT of shows scratched off the list already

Arlong was under this Jinbe dude, on the same crew. Jinbe the Shichibukai was a boss of Arlong some time ago. Yeah there's always some corrupt guys even in the marine. If let loose to roam they could get down to petty things, both pirates and marines. They are only humans. Just this one guy doing business with pirates doesn't mean the whole marine is in on it, know about it or are corrupt like this guy. Everyone has their own morale and goal. And again, Arlong does not have Shichibukai title, even if his former boss Jinbe has.

Nowhere in the subtitles this episode does it say that Arlong has a boss, just that he's on par with the Fishman Warlord Jimbei.

Honestly for me, this arc is where the series picked up in intensity and awesomeness. It was the turning point for me from where the show went from being “A pretty solid anime” to being “Oh my gosh this is my favorite anime of all time” and I can’t to see how you react to the whole ride!

Don't worry too much about the Warlord stuff, they'll explain it in better detail later. The important thing to take away here is that Arlong and his crew of fishmen are pirates from the Grand Line. Since we're at Arlong now, might as well throw in my dub factoid now: in the dub he's voiced by the same actor who did Mr. Satan (or Hercule if you prefer) in Dragon Ball Z. Which I admit is a little weird when you first hear it, but he does such a good job as a villain in Arlong that you don't even think about it much.

Just to clear it up, while I'm sure he wishes he was, Arlong is not a warlord. They introduced the idea of warlords, like Hawkeye, and mentioned there is one Warlord who is a fishman, Jinbe. they then eluded to Arlong having worked with him and possibly being on par with him. It is a bit of a messy explanation, but they will remind you of all these groups and more as time goes on.
