Attack On Titan S3 Eps 20 FULL REACTION

Including dots you couldn't even see until now.

It's a lot more nuanced than that. The anime is great in that there are no real good and bad guys, it's all about perspective and a demonstration of the human struggle that bears resemblance and is repeated time and time again in our own world.

The show does have great rewatch value. Armed with knowledge about the series, you can go back and pick up on social cues here and there, looks given by certain characters, and interesting use of dialogue that you would normally miss when you watch it the first time. I've watched it at least a half-dozen times now and it's the best mystery anime ever created in my opinion. Dots that are created dozens of episodes ago are only now being connected. Superbly written series.

Paul Coffield

Hey if you cant wait for aot final season you can always react to Vinland Saga lol. Like tomorrow. That would be lit. Super under rated. Had do go there, I know you will get there later this year.

Xan Acktor

I totally agree you said AOT is on its own level. Nothing else can reach it's height already with season 3, and in season 4 it will even be greater.

I'm sure you've binged the rest of S3 by now but just in case I'll try to summarize some of the less clear points. THE Ymir was the first titan/shifter. Exactly how she got the power is not yet clear and legends paint her as a goddess or devil depending on which side is telling the story. When she died the power split into the 9 titan shifters. OUR Ymir was just just a homeless girl picked up by a cult to serve as an idol to worship as a reincarnation of THE Ymir. Then, much like Grisha, they were discovered and sent to Paradise and turned into titans(Speaking of rewatchability, if you go back and watch she's at the same wall and you hear the needles and see the yellow glow of transformation but indirectly) She wandered around until she ate Reiner and Bertholdts warrior friend upon which she came to posses 1 of the 9 Titans and returned to human form. Given the 60 years or so she wandered she's probably quite a bit "older" than Grisha was. Subjects of Ymir = Eldians. Both just refer to people descended from the Eldian Empire/Ymir and posses that bloodline. Marleyans need Eldian volunteers to serve as vessels of the Titan powers so Reiner/Bertholdt/Annie are probably like Zeke in that they were all Eldians who were coerced or forced to become "Warriors" for Marley. IE Eldians serving the Marleyan government. Also it's briefly mentioned this episode but one pretty key fact about the timeline of events: Marley has held its position as the dominant world power ever since they overthrew Eldia via having Titan shifting Warriors. However... technology is starting to advance very quickly and they're worried it won't be long before Titans aren't enough to hold that position. Paradise Island is not just the penal colony for the Eldian people, it's also sitting on a huge cache of fossil fuels. So now Marley is desperate to recover both the missing titan powers and to exploit the island for its resources. Before there wasn't much logic in testing the First King's threat of "flattening the earth with the millions of titans within the walls" but at this point they are desperate.

Interesting facterino: season 1 they explained what titans are and how to kill them in a classroom, the teacher explains "they mostly appear male, and they only come from one direction." Makes so much sense now, most resistance fighters would be male, and they're only made in one place, as shown in the video.

Clarification: only Eldians can become titans, period. Injections into anyone else won't transform them into the basic titans.

I hope it doesn't go into the "Marley's are just assholes and the true bad guys." I hope the stories about Eldians are true, and that the people of the walls will fight for the independence, unconnected to their ancestors actions. That they are innocent people fighting for freedom, and that Marlians are fighting for their security from the possible threat of history repeating itself.

Loro Lukic

You are right I forgot that. Thanks for pointing out.

Id like to explain somethings that you misunderstood or maybe i just misheard. No there are not titans around the world, they are all in that island where eren and everyone else is stuck within the walls of. All the titans outside the walls are titans that Marley have created. The only people who can become titans are people with eldian blood in them which is why the Marley government gathered eldians to become soldiers for them because the marleys can’t become titan shifters. Titan shifters are those who can transform into titans with powers and transform back to human. Yes that includes Eren and Armin. Yes, EVERYONE inside the walls are Eldians. Also yes Reiner, Bertholdt, Zeke, Annie and everyone else being called sinners are all ALSO Eldians. All titan shifters so far: Eren, Armin, Zeke, Reiner, Annie, Ymir Also notice how they said there are nine titans? We have already seen 8/9. Then how have we seen 8 already when we only know 6 titan shifters? The 7th titan shifter has not been revealed who it is but we have already seen what it is even if they didnt focus on it. As for the 8th, well lets just say its possible for someone to have multiple titans. Lastly, founder ymir is not the same as scout ymir. In fact, our Ymir’s real name is not ymir. She was given that name. Founder Ymir made a contract with a super deity. My own personal theory is that she did it because her people were in danger and under oppression of another nation that was expanding AKA the Marleys. She did it to stop the Marleys from expanding because as you can see, Marleys are a bunch of scum bags who just want power. In s4 you will see that even now, being the largest and most powerful country they continue their hunger for power and conquest. I am personally for side Eldia but all manga readers know..stuff happens and well yea things happen. All i can say is, THEY DESERVE IT!!

PyroPhoenix

Grisha had not been eaten by eren yet when she found the house. Grisha was out doing “something” that will be shown next episode during the time of the attack

PyroPhoenix

Half the episode I'm yelling at the screen "Noo! They ARE the titans" lmao

Now comes the part where the show answers questions you didn't even know you had. But, yeah, this show's rewatch value is really, *really*, *REALLY* high! And, yes, the Ymir they're talking about (as far as I know; I haven't read the manga) is a different one. According to Ymir's (the one we know from the Scouts) backstory in season two, Ymir was a homeless kid (Now, that I think about it, she was probably in the Internment Zone.) who was picked at random by some people who were part of a cult (one who wanted to bring back the original Ymir) and given the name "Ymir". She was never the Ymir they're talking about in this episode, though. Anyway, if you go back and watch that episode, they actually show her getting turned into a Titan. The syringe and the soldiers are *just* out of frame, though, so you never see where they are, how it's done, or who's turning them into Titans. All you see is Ymir suddenly turning into a Titan. By the way, you know that scene in this episode where the soldier who killed Grisha's sister is lecturing Grisha on the wall? The author intentionally framed it in the manga so he would be looking and speaking directly at the reader when he was talking, and the anime replicated that. Grisha asks, "Why would you do something like this? Do you get enjoyment out of people getting eaten by Titans?" The soldier's response: "Why, you ask? [looks directly at the camera] Because it's interesting. [camera shows Grisha's face; Grisha is looking at the soldier, not the camera] Do you think that's a little crazy? But you know [back to the soldier looking into the camera], people actually want to see cruelty. Peace can be such a wonderful thing, but something about it is lacking. Losing touch with life and death perhaps? We should live thinking this might be the last day we've got. That's the only proper state of mind for living things. I'm ready to accept it when that day comes for me. That's because I've faced this cruel world head on and deepened my understanding of it. Yeah... it was educational having my sons' dogs eat your sister." The rest of the scene goes on for a while, but the soldier is no longer looking directly at the viewer.

Gestrid

The truth about Marley and Eldia is really muddled. No one’s really wrong or right, they keep saying “Your people did this or your people did that” but it’s all really just perspective. To the Marleyians, the Eldians oppressed them for centuries, so they treat them like that and turn them into Titans because of their “Sins”; to the Eldian’s, the Marleyians are an evil race, who kill w/o remorse and sympathy.

Harold Jarder

I agree with the rewatch value of this show. With other shows like MHA I mainly watch to see how people react, with AoT I watch also to notice details I've missed myself and maybe the reactor connects things I haven't.

Erik Nilsson

A very sad point is that Dina actually kept her promise to Grisha. She managed to reach his house when the Colossal titan broke the wall. If Grisha did not get eaten by Eren she would have indeed found him. It indicates that the mindless titans may still have some amount of consciousness in them, which adds the level of sadness to the whole picture. Besides, you will figure out the difference between our Ymir and the founder Ymir Fritz after rewatching the episode showing our Ymir's backstory in season 2. Moreover, this episode definitely worths rewatching, and the motivation of Zeke may appear more clear after that. Great reaction as always! Can't wait for your next upload.

YIQIU ZHAO

There is an AoT OVA called Ilse's notebook, and it involves "Ymir". You should probably check that out.
