He cant drink because of his wound. when he said his stomach was basically destroyed in episode 2 of season 1, i imagine it also had some effect on his liver (the organ that filters alcoholic beverages and other stuff.

You fully understand why she's feeling and acting like she is, it makes sense, it's just... such amazing writing. Also, as to the stuff at the end.... it's almost like two people can look at the same person, both come away admiring them, but for different reasons........ MHA really loves giving us multi-faceted characters.

In the BD (Blu-ray Disc) version of the show (the version you're watching, which removes edits that were made for broadcast, such as dimmed scenes), they're replaced with the thing you're used to seeing. This particular mid-episode card confirmed that Best Jeanist is still alive, but he's taking time off to recover. That bit of info might be why they left it in.
