Murdering someone is already a terrible thing, but in this world where humanity is on the brink of extinction, it's an especially rare crime. Since they've got the titans as a common enemy, they don't really fight amongst themselves inside the walls. But, it saved Jean. That would have been a truly unepic death for someone who's gone through the character developments Jean has lol.
