Going to actually have to disagree with you a bit - I think it's more about poise/posture when he stiffens an element, something that's very important in technical dances like ballet/jazz. When he wants to he's got a lot of movement in his torso, if you watch any of the fancams for call me baby for example he looks absolutely boneless
