Psst... this week has been hell!
In all seriousness, sometimes as game dev hobbyists the real world can get in the way. My day job has me doing advertising for a bunch of different companies who have all been impacted by the shortages caused by COVID. This means on occasion as we set up for large yearly sales way in advance so the advertising gets out on time, many of the items we have been planning on being on the collateral gets changed last minute due to shortages. The past month has been that for us. This week culminated in a ton of it. Needless to say, it's why this update is late and last weeks render was late. I'll do my best to stay as on time with these as possible, but unless/until we get to a point where this is a full time thing, it's just a fact that on occasion my day job will get in the way.
On to the game: we've had a good/bad week here as well. As Puggy and I have gotten more accustomed to Blender we've gone back and made some tweaks to previous animations and changed a few things, specifically lighting. Puggy finished up two animations over the past two weeks and as I got in to light them I had a bit of an epiphany while lighting one that meant we needed to go back and re-render all the ones we've done up until this point.
They look really, really freaking good. I wish we could share them but they are way too spoilery. I'm really proud of how Puggy is getting better at these things and enjoying learning the small amount of Blender I'm learning through osmosis with him.
I know I'd said I'd get back to the numbers this week but I'm only going to share the scenes that have had significant number increases, so as to keep you all from having to scroll through everything.
One important thing to note from previous rounds is that I removed scene 6 and am folding that conversation into what was previously scene 7. The reasoning is that it was already a short scene (11 renders) which felt out of character for the MC. It was also just 11 renders that weren't going to be super exciting unless you like looking at the MC naked (no kink shaming). So, I found a more interesting way to fold it into the next scene and not have to do an internal monologue, which is something I strive to have as little as possible of in our game. I mention this as scene 9 is listed as scene 8 below.
Secondly, I'm going to start noting the amount of frames in the animation count. You'll be able to figure out how long our overall animations will be, by noting that we are rendering at 24 frames per second. Needless to say once you've checked the numbers, these aren't two pose pump and dump loops.
THE NUMBERS
Scene 4 - 40% (UPDATED)
Scene 8 - 60%
That's it for this week! Thank you for your patience and your continued support! The queue just wound down, so I think I'll do this week fun render to go along with a much requested little surprise I and another dev are cooking up to share sometime today on Discord.
Enjoy the rest of your weekends!
