What seems like a life ago ( a little about me) Part 1

Since you asked...

I grew up in Pennsylvania. My mom was an artist (mainly a painter and graphic designer), my dad an engineer. My first introduction to modeling was in a Macy/JCP catalogue as a kid.

Anyway years later, before I joined the Army I had applied to a government job after college. I made it all the way to a polygraph test then when they asked me if I ever partook of a particular substance, I answered truthfully. They did not hire me. It would turn out to be for the best.

I had a huge interest in Europe, the Middle East, travel, history and different cultures.

My favorite movie was the Mummy followed closely by Starship Troopers. My favorite author was Hemingway. I loved the idea of travel and fantasy.

I was an athlete in HS and College, had my pilot license, 4.0 GPA, ( a goody two shoes lol) I graduated with a degree in Economics, with focuses in Finance, and Middle Eastern Studies. I studied abroad in Egypt, and traveled to England and Ireland as well for studies.

I also loved riding and sports. I did 2000 hours of community service mainly with habitat for humanity building houses. I became scuba certified, and although I was terrified, I took flying lessons as well. The point here is that I just always had to be busy. (It's something I am working on now)

After the decline of the gov job, I focused on my career at the bank I worked for. I was fortunate to find a job. I graduated college in the 2010s while the economy was still recovering from 2008 recession.

I did not have time for boys so I did not date much. I was also very shy in that regard. I did go to parties, but I was the party planner, designated driver and bar tender.

I devoted most of my free time to travel.

Well eventually the economy took it's toll on the bank I worked at. They told me I was either getting laid off unless I wanted to relocate to Canada with them.

I made the decision to move to Canada, but before I told my boss, an Army Recruiter who I had made friends with while on lunch breaks each day convinced me to join and go through Officer Training. OCS
So on an impulse I did.

Less than 2 years later I got my dream of travel... but it was not what I had pictured. I found myself assigned as a Maintenance Officer over a platoon of some of the best and hard working guys I ever met. We were short staffed and our unit was in charge of retrograde out of Iraq so we were working around the clock wearing many hats.

I kinda woke up to realities as well. Life was not this romantic Hemmingway novel. I quickly learned a thing or two on how to control your emotions and not spiral down a dark path. Later this would catch up to me, but I would re learn.

Before going overseas with the Army I met someone... His name was Alex and he was a guy with a positive outlook and full of passion.

To be continued... (if you'd like to know more that is)

Marti

yes ma'am, sometimes truthfullness is a bad thing...kept me out of SF, Delta and White House Communications...but I still managed to have 28 years of fun and friends so it didn't all end bad...
