Dev diary - June 2025

Hey,
After Update 3 released, I spent some time polishing it in patches, fixing some issues, and experimenting with gameplay a bit. I then started working on the next update, which focuses on adding growth stages and some more scenes.
I am a bit under half-way done. I intend to release the update in the second week of July, but this is an approximation. Here's more details:

Growth

This is the main focus of the update.
I'm adding more growth stages to all characters, up to level 10. Beating the last boss in current update 3 will set your new max level to 10, and each character gets a new boss, as well as new assets, cards, and scenes to develop the story.
In the future, not all characters may receive a growth update at once, but I wanted to do it this time. Plus, new growth stages actually require support from gameplay, as described below.

Social and mirror

The mirror added in Update 3 was a bit of a last minute addition, but I implemented a menu with scenes to indulge in one's growth in her daily life. I made a number of scenes already, but I need some for every character and size, so it's taking a while. The scenes I've made until now mostly focus on intimate, self-discovery but I also intend to make some interacting with people.

Those intimate scenes are supposed to take on the role the growth scenes had in update 2. I'm aware it would be nice to have something more tangible when reaching a new level for the first time. I was thinking of achievement images, but let me know what you think.

Gameplay

The gameplay doesn't get a huge upgrade this time around, but I added a way to upgrade the maze to a higher rank, empoyering monsters and adding characters and events. You're gonna keep going on your journey and need the appropriate challenge and exp sources, after all.

Due to the polls for Update 3, I am also experimenting on ways to improve the deckbuilding aspect, get rid of basics easier for instance. I have a few things in mind but nothing definitive yet. I'm also experimenting to add new gameplay mechanics as you upgrade the maze in order to switch up the gameplay loop some more.

Bugs and quality of life

I am aware of many issues that occured in Update 3. I pushed many fixes in the following weeks after the release, but there are still more. I've fixed a number of them I decided to postpone for the next update because of how diverging the update was, especially due to a change in how the internal database is handled. This is also the reason why I didn't end up adding more card upgrade arts in patches, but that's getting fixed.

Hopefully I'll have time to handle most bugs and not have them add on top of each other, I want to keep the game as bug free as I can. Additionally, I've implemented ways to revert traits and see monsters and chibis in the gallery. Please let me know if you want other changes like that.

So here you go. Turns out adding characters, mechanics, and making the game richer overall caused every little addition to take longer.
Expect more frequent sneak peeks soon as the update gets more concrete.
Feel free to give feedback about what you want!

Comments

Yes, you only need a few upgrades to beat the current state of the game, but you can still keep leveling up if you keep playing and in that case you'd be quite overleveled. The maze is supposed to keep growing alongside you but you might have a head start then. Also adding the possibility to dial back traits to manage difficulty yourself.

I love the idea of upgrading the maze. Conquering higher ascension levels in games like Slay the Spire are what keep me addicted to them. Right now, I've leveled up so much in this game that the maze isn't a challenge anymore.

Pre-loading images would be good, lower bandwidth connections mean waiting for images to slowly load whenever a new image is on screen.

My favorite characters are The futa Tanuki (Forgot her name), The Giant Aurora and the main futa. It's a nice game, take your time~.
