Small bugs with the update launch

There were a couple issues with the Kindred update launch, ranging from images not displayed correctly to wrong boss to white screens to me leaving a debug while frantically fixing stuff (no, Pearl was not supposed to have new starting cards).

Known bug: incorrect max level

Hi, just wanted to let you know that I with the recent updates I made a few mistakes in regards to transferring save files. Some of you may have experienced max level being stuck earlier than anticipated, possibly even been met with a story boss on the wrong level.

Adjusting difficulty

I haven't had a lot of negative comments yet about difficulty when it came to Maze Power 2, but I feel like this is something that may be important. I do not want my players to feel like progressing is painful.

Witch hunt is online

The Witch hunt update is online. This update adds more content for Patreon elite subscribers. It mainly includes:

  • Maze power 2

  • Beryl growth up to level 10 with a new story arc

  • New companion system

Changes also include bug fixes, Beryl cardpool balancing, relic variations, and more relics.

Hi, development for the update has ended, but I can't publish it yet because of bugs I need to fix before that. They're mostly related to handling save files and public vs supporter build with varying character level access, nothing that should happen again in the following drops. Publishing it as soon as issues have been dealt with, so probably around tomorrow.
I just wanted to address that as it was supposed to already be out.

Quick tour of an improved maze

Hi,

In the following weeks, I'm going to roll out small updates, each giving a specific girl access to the next growth stages (up to level 10) alongside a storyline. The first one will be Beryl later this week, as per a previous poll. While I'm not showing what it looks like just yet, this also means you need a way to gain enough experience to reach that level.

State of dev and future update schedule

Hi,

I was a bit hesitant about making this post, because I am of the philosophy of not finding excuses and rather doing instead of saying in times like this, especially when the late update is my fault. Improving deck management

The way the deck management worked changed with Update 3 to allow a more dynamic deck size. You would now manage your deck size by adding and removing cards, instead of swapping every time with a fixed deck size.

The change had upsides and downsides. It did feel a bit clunky at times, and I knew it was something I wanted to improve on, I just needed more time for design and implementation. This improvement should come with Update 4.

Slow progress

Hello everyone,

Sad news. Progress was a bit slow, the update won't come out in time, and I unfortunately can't say I gave it my all.

What's coming in Update 4? (+ patch info)

Quick info:

I'm deploying a small patch tomorrow addressing a few bugs, increasing shard gain, lowering exp requirement, and minor gameplay changes. Runes will also be removed, in order to remove management on individual card upgrades with faster pacing, and not requiring you to gather them in the maze. You'll be able to upgrade all cards at once in the traits menu. Saves will be fine, but runs in progress will be aborted automatically.

Post-update 3 thoughts

Update 3 dropped a bit over 24 hours ago, and brought its lot of core changes. I received a bunch of critical comment ranging from good to less good, and have been collecting my thoughts.

Before I start to work on the next update, I am going to spend a few days to polish the current system, tweaking a few numbers and mechanics in order to make it the best I can for the most people out there.

Update 3 feedback - Deck management

Last question for now, guys.

Previously, Update 2 had a fixed 15 cards deck size, and on every new card you would be replacing an older one. A quick rotation was needed to push off lower level cards from earlier in the run.

With card levels gone and the addition of vanish cards and the such, it didn't fit as well and I tried to switch things up, but I got some negative feedback about the new deck management.

Update 3 feedback - level system?

Hi, second survey about the new gameplay is about the new level system.
Previous levels are now split into more parts, and you can keep exp between runs for meta-progression.
The objective is to feel your character grow in the long run rather than in the short term, and you can come back in the maze and demolish monsters that gave you trouble before, thus seeing your progress.
