Preferred difficulty setting?

Hello,

This week, I've put out a few balance changes. Pearl and Ruby have been noticeably buffed, some enemies have been nerfed... I usually post changelogs in my Discord server: https://discord.gg/dh4Cj4BJt8

I wanted to know what you guys have been playing on mostly, and how did the difficulty felt. Feel free to leave remarks in the comments. I think balance changes are going to slow down now, as I'm pretty content with the state of things and need to focus more on the next update but I wanted your opinion.

I think casual is mostly in a fine spot atm. Really the only hiccups I found there were the Stage 3 boss which felt like it could use some numbers tuning mainly. Challenge mode I personally found to be too..."swingy" I think? It feels a lot like the RNG swings too heavily one way or another but your mileage there may vary on certain characters. That's not to say the mode is bad by any means though! Like others have said, I think casual is good for testing deck build synergies, but I feel like challenge mode might slightly benefit from a tightening of the RNg curve? Maybe something like at least one guaranteed shop with 1 healing item per floor or something like that? That way it may balance out somewhat while maintaining challenge. Either way what is here is still a blast and you've done fantastic so far!

I played ruby on challenge, the best way to handle her kit is to load on up 2 cost blocks and 1 cost endowment blocks with +1 cards, then unload in a single attack You can easily get your block to 40 in a turn, giving you 14 turns to kill the boss

i struggle to build a synergistic deck regardless of character or difficulty. but that could just be lots of bad luck with rng card pulls

Chops

as a free player ruby always feels a little under powered especially at the start like almost every thing hits 1 or 2 over her block and there is no effective or efficient way to defend especially against enemies that buff themselves or de-buff you. I feel like she needs some new cards, one that makes block linger, one that improves block gain, a card that pulls a special card instead of an attack card, and a cards that uses a % of your tension rather than 1,2 or all of it with a minimum requirement of coarse. And I feel that special card split would give a nice buff and by that I mean special in to block and special or farther so a card can draw a block card and feral does not effect blocking just other affects. maybe a larger deck size at some point or an option that changes deck size not hand size. Separately I have noticed a significant decrease in card variety from exploring so I don't see many card during an entire run I have done maybe +5 runs that make it to level 2 and I have not seen all the cards yet even once.

Even though I typically play on Casual, I think that the sudden spike in difficulty comes from the first Story boss for each character that; at least for me, dampened the enjoyment. Maybe lower their health or scale back the damage?

I find casual a good warm-up before tackling challenge. Helps me test out the build types I want to play as well.
