Objectives for Update 2

First of, let me apologize once again for the delay regarding the previous update, there was more to do than I initially anticipated. Because of your wonderful support though, I was able to finish the update in peace. Hopefully you enjoy playing it.
I think I might ditch the one update per month thing, and focus on making impactful updates that make people want to boot up the game again. Unsure how much time it will take exactly, but I'm still gonna try to push such an update between one and two months of delay. Of course, I'll give you regular insight.

On the very short term, I want to address a few balance issues regarding Update 1. I'm going to do more testing in the following days and with some feedback from you guys, update a few things.
Notably, I do intend to rework some of Pearl's cards. She's seen as a hard character to play but that's not the main issue I feel like. Currently, she has some very strong stuff and a few lacking cards, I want to balance it out to promote various strategies. I also want to better test and update a few new bosses I introduced in the update, that I wasn't able to test as much as I would have liked.

Now let's talk about what's planned for the next update.
Update 1 was focused on adding more playable content, flesh out Maze of Ambition as a game. For Update 2, I want to make it feel like a proper adult game, even during gameplay. Also add a bit of life, to make it look a bit less plain. More life, more horny. Here's a few ideas:
Achievement system, unlocking images in the gallery
Event encounters, outside of fights and shops
More scenes for existing growth stages
More images
Improved gallery (for images and scenes, sorted by character)
Ingame dialogs and animations
Interactable stuff by clicking on it
What I'm also thinking about implementing, but not sure about doing it for this update:
Corruption
Better images handling (loading and transitions)
Interactions based on your deckbuilding and gameplay choices
More enemies for added variety, a few cards
Accessibility feature (mobile play, offline download of public version)
I can imagine some people wanted to get access to level 4, or maybe a new character, but I feel like it's important to add such features. People are playing an adult game for a reason.
I'm going to poll you in the following days, as well as gathering feedback from my boss subscribers specifically to help me deciding what I want to work on exactly.

No, the difficulty is not unplayable, but imo unreasonably hard on casual mode. I feel I have to wreck my brain over strategies for the best cards to pick. And that's just not something I'm willing to deal with as a necessity in an adult game. It doesn't help that the grinding exist. Yes, it's part of the genre, but if I have to grind in order not to grind anymore (the bells) something is wrong. One way to balance health might be the shop always having healing items available and maybe come in regular intervals. The game is *chef's kiss* in idea and execution but the balancing makes it a somewhat frustrating experience at the moment. For me at least.

2024-10-03 04:54:13 +0000 UTCMy initial thought about corruption is that some options allow you to grow faster, but corrupt your character. It can impact gameplay, but also scenes and events. I don't want to fork the story too much as it takes time, but I thought I would do two main paths (corrupt or not)

2024-10-01 10:50:46 +0000 UTCBalancing for all characters take quite some time, balance is not perfect still and I'm working on it, but it should be nothing unplayable. If anything, the stage 3 boss hasn't yet been tested as thoroughly as it's not in any current quest. Yes, I want to include previous story bosses in Update 2 event rooms for replayability. When quick starting on a higher floor, it's on purpose slightly worse than when starting over, to not be entirely better. Starting full health is quite good still.

A corruption mechanic could also be great, whether it's part of the main path, or maybe if you were considering it a side path, with options to grow your corruption and change some future scenes depending on it?

2024-10-01 09:34:09 +0000 UTCdifficulty level, I find it perfect, I don't pass the last boss of the challenge mode with the 2 other characters, but I must be missing somewhere. For future additions, I will express myself when implementing a new character. Otherwise maybe a way to replay the story boss fights without erasing everything. Or when you decide to go directly to floor 2 to have slightly more choice of map/objects, I have the impression that it is never profitable to pass a floor
