2023-09-07 10:02:29 +0000 UTCThe scene with the hand holding is a bit complicated, since it plays on the contextual nature of japanese language. Since they usually don't use pronouns, 'sukida yo' can mean "I like it", as in someone's hand (again, contextual, since they are talking about each other's hands), equivalent to "I like your hand", but it can also mean "I like you". This is why Hori made the correction, she felt embarrassed for accidentally telling him she likes him, and why Miyamura said sukida yo twice, once to tell her he likes her hand, and a second time to tell her that he likes her too, knowing what she actually meant. God that scene is actually so romantic!

I didn't feel this way about it the first few times I watched this show. It's something I only felt recently when rewatching it again.
