Hey everyone, Rose here!
After a long time, I finally painted again. It's nothing pregnancy-related, but I thought some of you might be interested anyway.
As you might know, Sapph and I are hyperfixating a lot over The Amazing Digital Circus right now. So much so that it inspired me to finally paint again. I haven't drawn something so huge in many years! I sometimes help Sapph with her art and used to color some of her works, but in the last years I mostly focused on being her manager.
I don't know what it is about that show! It just inspires me to experiment and be creative. I drew another artwork a week ago (you might know it from my Instagram), but that only took maybe 2 hours. I drew on this one for 4 days, around 7h a day! That's crazy, I didn't know I still could be so affectionate about painting. A thing Sapph and I are joking about is that I always remember that I actually really hate drawing, but I always forget, and when I draw again, I always remember. But that wasn't the case with this picture! It was so much fun to make, every step! Probably because it wasn't so much actual drawing (sketching) involved, but more painting (colors, shapes) conceptualization, design & graphic. Which are all things I really like.
Pomni is just so cute... and I looove these old circus posters from 100 years ago and wanted to see if I could make one inspired by that, mixing old with new stuff, yadda yadda.
When you click through the pictures you can see the progress and my main references. The first 3 pics are final versions. Sapph helped me with the hands btw! I worked in Sai2 (I can't handle Procreate and painting in PS is just shyte), used many layers for the body at first (screen for light, multiply for shadows) but as per usual, eventually merged them all and started to paint over all of them, to give it a more natural, painty look.
Then I edited everthing in photoshop to make it look a tiny bit more realistic (textures, no smooth lines, etc). I couldn't decide which version I liked the most, so I finished three versions.
We will sell this as prints and even an original poster size in Sapph's Etsy-Shop soon (all three versions probably)! Sadly the poster will have to be folded for shipping, but that also might make it a bit more authentic, haha. Keep your eyes peeled when you're interested! We will announce it here, too. (And don't forget that you get an extra discount as a patron!)
Have a great day!
Rose
