Sorry for another wait (write, rewrite and discard, write, rewrite and discard). - Oh! That! Here the Master is relishing in the Doctor’s resolve, faltering more and more with every bite, to refuse the next custard cream crumbling away the moment it touches her lips. - The Rani is definitely there to observe what’s happening to the Doctor when ingesting specially prepared custard creams of her own design for research purposes and absolutely not taking greater and greater interest in their humiliation, feeling the Doctor’s belly grow and tighten that little bit more with each bite beneath her hand and listening intently to their every whimper and groan.

I have a tendency to rewrite and discard, rewrite and discard, rewrite and discard when writing anything. - So! First! The idea of Yaz!Master was inspired by the wealth of fanfics and fanart that introduced the concept of Whittaker!Master and Dhawan!Doctor to the world, Ariel Dorfman's The Empire's Old Clothes - What the Lone Ranger, Babar, and Other Innocent Heroes Do to Our Minds (Good read, there’s a section about the Lone Ranger and how he doesn’t really improve the situation. Sure, they ride in, save the day, but they haven’t effected permanent change in the circumstances of what led to the situation happening in the first place. They’re a remedy, not a cure), and heavily, VERY HEAVILY, influenced by Haruko Haruhara after binge watching the original series of FLCL. A future incarnation of the Master, Yaz!Master has all the cunning and ferocity of her past incarnations except now in the service of taking a sabbatical from trying to control the universe and becoming master of all matters and for her own amusement instead spending her time (the time when she’s not fulfilling her end of the bargain she has with this version/incarnation of the Rani) taking great delight in screwing with and getting under the Doctor’s skin whenever she by utter chance, by total coincidence, by complete accident, in no way did she intend to be here of all places at a time like this, happens to cross paths with them (oh, she does, she does). No conquest. No villainy. No ploys. No plots. No schemes. Taking on the exact likeness of Yasmin Khan when she regenerated was another part of getting under the Doctor’s skin. The Doctor, so used to Masters with cut and dry goals, can’t handle an incarnation whose MO is to solely mess with her however they fancy. They’re unpredictable. Will she ride up on a moped to taunt the Doctor and co as they’re in the middle of saving the world and act as if she’s the cause only to discard the notion with a laugh and ride off to continue her vacation? Will she turn up at UNIT HQ unannounced because she needed the safest place on Earth to hunker down for a bit after the situation with the Rani had grown into something more and entirely new? Will she save a world using her methods to spite the Doctor? Will she stuff the Doctor with a batch of irresistible custard creams concocted by Rani? Yes. - Moving onto the Rani (capelet lady - The Rani and Rani will be used interchangeably). This version/incarnation is based on concept art (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1OTiuifraBJda-MkQY6_Y6P8hgDLHjQZt?usp=sharing) produced by the Canadian animation studio Nelvana when they were pitching an animated adaptation of Doctor Who to the BBC during the early 90s (Issue five of the Doctor Who fanzine Vworp Vworp has a whole section documenting the attempt and several others that were made before and after it - there’s been a lot). The first time I saw it I was like “Yup! Gonna commission Schpog to draw this!” The partnership between her and the Master began as one of mutual benefits. The Rani, a renegade scientist without limits, morally speaking, needed a test subject and the Master was willing to bite the bullet to be that if it meant a certain level of access to Rani’s TARDIS (she would attempt to use it beyond those agreed levels only to be blocked by a mix of countermeasures and the TARDIS’ fanatical loyalties to its pilot) she just had no idea what direction many of those experiments would take. Gestating an unknown lifeform being one of them. The Rani, after all, is amoral and driven to do anything and everything in the pursuit of scientific knowledge (the universe is her laboratory and everything in it are her tools). Originally the Rani found the Master’s toying with the Doctor a petty nuisance but her scientific curiosity began to manifest when the Master let slip (a “I know something you don’t know” situation) about the Doctor’s potential origins and how that could make her such a worthwhile test subject to study. If she fancied joining her in the fun from time to time, of course, which she does more and more often from that point onwards. For research purposes. - If anyone’s got any questions, just ask.
