This grand airship, under the command of Kyo, an unlikely, petite alchemic captain, soared into the nascent day. Despite her diminutive stature, an aura of authority enveloped her, as her unruly grey hair fluttered in the morning wind, testament to her indomitable spirit and half-awake ship handling prowess. The figures of Fang and Claw, once her loyal First and Second Mates, had been alchemically transformed into functional adornments — a sandstone hair loop and an intricate bangle-ring, respectively.
Also on board was Kyo's stalwart crewmate, Nok, a robust young man with sun-kissed blonde hair, now unrecognizable from his wanted poster, thanks to a well-concocted potion. As the ship's culinary maestro, Nok had the unique talent of whipping up meals, from exotic delicacies to homely comfort food, in the bustling kitchen of the Bacon Wing. But he was far from being just an ordinary cook, as beneath his culinary veneer was a hardened pirate, a stark contrast to his unassuming, ghostlike presence, detectable by Kyo only due to his signature meaty aroma.
Their destination was the legendary Loguetown, a city steeped in piracy lore, known as the 'City of Beginning and End'. It held the distinction of being both the final resting place of the infamous Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, and the first major stop of his successor, Monkey D. Luffy. The city held significant geopolitical weight, attracting pirates and Marines alike with the allure of an ancient map recently released from the clutches of the World Government. This map purportedly led to a hidden treasure within the city, a treasure that could only be unlocked by deciphering the city's historical riddles.
Nok gestured back at the vanishing castle, his voice filled with uncertainty, “Are you sure you want to leave this place behind?”
Unwavering, Kyo gazed at the receding fortress, “There’s a distortion in the space there. I can sense it warping, unraveling from existence. I suspect a creature lures its prey into this anomaly."
"Prey?" Nok questioned, his eyes widening with shock.
Kyo nodded, "Yes, prey. One hunter can sense another, especially if they employ similar tactics."
Kyo let her eyes wander to the infinite expanse above, as if searching for answers in the vast cosmos. The concept of a 'Devil Fruit' resonated with her current conjecture. If it were real, the space magic could be a game-changer, allowing her to store a plethora of these mystical fruits. Yet, she was also aware that treasures of such magnitude were seldom unguarded.
“What is the prevalent currency here?” Kyo asked, shifting her focus from the rapidly shrinking castle to the alchemy ship she helmed.
Nok joined Kyo at the helm and replied, “Previously, a currency called Berri, backed by the World Government and Lady Im, was in circulation. It was a means to exert control over the economies by the Celestial Dragons. But, after the Battle for One Piece at Laugh’s Tale, the Council of Kingdoms altered the currency to gold, silver, copper, and gems. Personally, it seems more practical than paper money with arbitrary denominations printed on them.”
As Kyo manipulated the space around her to generate a Slipstream, she maintained a conversation with Nok without depleting her energy.
“Good. I have gathered some treasures,” she remarked nonchalantly, dropping her loot onto the deck. “Is this enough for a Devil Fruit?”
Shaking his head, Nok replied, "Even this vast collection of gold and jewelry would cover merely a fraction of the cost. Devil Fruits, being the objects of fate alteration, come with a hefty price tag."
Kyo heaved a sigh, her face crinkling in disappointment. “You mentioned that Loguetown harbors hidden treasure?”
“Allegedly so,” confirmed Nok, lounging on the deck.
With a nonchalant shrug, Kyo sank into a meditative state, allowing her subconscious to navigate their course towards the city.
As they sailed through the azure skies, the silhouette of Loguetown began to emerge in the distance. Kyo's eyes snapped open, glistening with anticipation. "We are close, Nok," she announced, her voice echoing with an infectious sense of adventure. Roused from his repose, Nok cautioned, “We must tread carefully. Pirates and their allies are at high risk in this city."
Acknowledging his advice with a nod, Kyo skillfully maneuvered the airship through the swirling mists that enshrouded Loguetown, the promise of new adventures on the horizon.
