“If the Dungeon cheats, then we just need to stop that possibility with something from the good old home,” Eve muttered as the words Elena had spoken struck a chord with her. In her room within the Loki Familia compound, she had designed a very basic laboratory with the tools at hand. Looking at the small drone and camera created so far, she smiled with a devious glint in her eyes, “Instant replay, here we come.”
Eve was a master of magi-tech the fusion of magic and technology that allowed for incredible feats of power and innovation. She had long been fascinated by the power of runic language, the ancient symbols and glyphs that could be used to encode spells and incantations and with Eternal Memory they were always available. Nota had been lying low here in order to not trigger any flags, but the basic functions of her familiar still existed. And so, when the need arose to design a method for recording and transmitting body camera footage, Eve knew just what to do.
The problem was this: the local authorities known as the Guild, were in need of a system that could record and transmit footage such a system would keep the Dungeon honest, and adventuring parties safer. They needed this footage to be transmitted to a central location where it could be monitored and analyzed in real-time. But the current technology was limited, and there was no way to reliably transmit large amounts of data over long distances. The dependence on Falna had cut the tree of technology to its bitter root.
Eve knew that runic language could be used to encode and transmit complex information. With the right combination of symbols and incantations, she believed it was possible to create a magi-tech system that could record and transmit body camera footage.
First, she began by studying the design of the body cameras themselves in her Eternal Memory. She analyzed the camera's internal components, the way it captured and processed visual information, and the amount of data it produced. With this information, she was able to design a runic language script that could be used to encode the camera's output.
Next, Eve created a series of magical amplifiers that could be attached to the body cameras. These amplifiers were imbued with special enchantments that allowed them to enhance the camera's output and convert it into a format that could be easily encoded using the runic language script. The more adventurers that used the system she created, the clearer the entire picture would become. Without a doubt, it was something the Guild would mandate, for safety alone if no other reason.
Last, Eve designed a magical transmitter that could be used to send the encoded data to a central location. This bit was particularly brilliant because it used the Dungeon’s own signal against it. It wasn’t like the place could just stop transmitting orders to the monsters without repercussions. A monster without the guiding hand of the Dungeon was known by a rather derogatory term: Meat. They were far less intelligent, and easier to murder. The transmitter was powered by a combination of magical energy and technological components, and it was designed to transmit the data over long distances without losing any of the encoded information. It was also encrypted, on the off chance that someone had a Skill that might allow for interceptions.
Once the system was complete, Eve demonstrated its capabilities to the Guild via Elena vouching for her. They were amazed at the quality and clarity of the footage, and the speed with which it could be transmitted to a central location. With Eve's magi-tech system in place, they would be able to monitor and analyze body camera footage in real-time, improving their ability to respond to emergencies and prevent crime. No longer would murders in the Dungeon be unsolved, and Black Floor Bosses lack support.
For Eve, the project was a great success. She combined her knowledge of the runic language, magic, and technology to create a powerful new tool. And she knew that with further refinement, the system could be used for a wide range of other applications, from surveillance to data transmission and beyond. Cameras will prevent the Dungeon from playing tricks, but they are just one arrow.
After the two weeks dedicated to body cameras and mini-drones, she was ready for the next major project.
Armored Transport Vehicle. Better known as ATV in military circles. Armored transport vehicles are specialized vehicles designed to provide high levels of protection for their occupants during transport in high-risk situations. They are typically used by military forces, law enforcement agencies, and private security companies on Earth to transport personnel, equipment, and other valuable assets in dangerous environments, such as conflict zones or areas with high levels of crime.
Armored transport vehicles are built with a range of features that make them highly resistant to attack. They are typically constructed with heavy-duty materials, such as ballistic steel and composite armor, that can withstand ballistic and explosive impacts. The windows and doors of these vehicles are often made with ballistic glass, which is designed to stop or slow down bullets and other projectiles.
In addition to their armoring, these vehicles are also equipped with a range of defensive features, such as smoke screens, run-flat tires, and reinforced suspension systems. They often come equipped with powerful engines and advanced braking systems to provide quick acceleration and maneuverability in dangerous situations.
Armored transport vehicles are designed to be versatile and flexible, with many models able to be customized to meet specific requirements. They can be fitted with various types of communications equipment, including satellite and radio systems, to maintain contact with the outside world during transport. They may also be equipped with surveillance and monitoring systems, such as cameras and sensors, to help operators identify potential threats and respond accordingly.
The interior of armored transport vehicles is typically designed to be spacious and comfortable, with room for personnel and equipment. They may feature air conditioning and heating systems, as well as other amenities like multimedia systems and internet connectivity to help occupants stay connected and productive during long journeys.
Overall, armored transport vehicles provide a critical layer of protection for personnel and assets during transport in high-risk situations. With their advanced armor, defensive features, and customization options, these vehicles are essential tools for military and law enforcement operations, and for anyone who needs to transport valuable assets through potentially dangerous environments.
Eve knew they were the perfect counter to the Dungeon. With an adjustment from her runes and the proper metals, along with forward attached drills, victory wasn’t accidental, it was by design. A week of brainstorming with Crystal Core and Eternal Memory allowed her to create the first miniature test models. Satisfied with what she had achieved so far, she moved on to the next step.
“Finn, do you have a minute?” Eve asked catching the de facto leader of the Loki Familia as he headed out to solo the Dungeon the next morning.
“I’m in a bit of a hurry but I can spare some time for my protégé, yes,” Finn said with a shit-eating grin. Eve rolled her eyes; she hadn’t known everything she was signing up for at the time. Apparently, as the personal student of the leader, she was expected to prove herself. The result was challenged by everyone in the lower Levels. Eve had been merciful, but it had been made abundantly apparent that unless she was beaten in Basic Ability by a large margin, defeat was inevitable.
That was before she began to win using purely combat skills, too.
Finn had spent the better part of the last month needling both Riveria and Gareth about his brilliant decision to have her join the Loki Familia. Riveria’s own student was a rather shy elf who specialized in multi-casting the same spell a thousand or so times. In the same vein, Gareth’s own student was a young boy of the same race as Eve, a wolf, without the vampiric additions. The wolf-boy was practically feral and very unsociable. She’d had to teach him a lesson more than once when the teenage brat attempted to assert his dominance. For some delusional reason, he thought men were stronger and thus deserving of being in charge. Eve had pointedly explained, with physical therapy, that was nothing more than environmental conditioning. At least I can do rudimentary healing now, so the broken bones and bruises weren’t visible after re-educations. Some people just don’t know how to change their worldview without pain.
Eve moved to Finn’s side and handed the Pallum a scroll. Unrolling the scroll while keeping his spear in the crook of his arm, Finn looked at the vehicle with ever-narrowing eyes. After several long moments reading the metals and mana required, he sighed. “It will be expensive.”
Eve kept a grin off her face and said, “They’ll be able to travel faster than you can run, in any environment. Getting to the Deep Floors….”
“….would be a matter of hours not weeks. Yes, yes. You have sold me.” Finn said. “I’ll have to change my plans and head deeper, some of these metals are not common.”
“I can make a test case for the Upper Floors. Then one for the Mid-Levels, and finally a completed version for the Deep Levels.” Eve said her eyes shining brightly. She wasn’t averse to the concept and use that Falna had enjoyed. However, she felt like proving that technology was worth investing in as well. Magic and Technology combine into magi-tech!

Correct. When watching the show it was always bizarre to me how they had blacksmiths that could create fantastic weapons, but absolutely 0 technology, not even auto-carts or anything useful. I couldn't even find space bags or item rings when I pored over the original work, so it was like...how do you have all this camping gear on the 59th level? Where were the carts? Sure higher level peeps are stronger, but are we literally only using pack mules?!?! I don't know the excuse for the actual DM fiction, but I have one outlined and ready to write out in my story so it will make logical sense (to me)
