Kyo had managed to fit two complete chickens, including the bones into her stomach. It was due to politely using Plant Manipulation IVin a sneaky way. While the precise number eluded her, she knew that two chickens was not the limit of her meat devouring abilities.
It was just the limit of what Talos had on hand to feed her.
Meaaaaaaaaaat. Kyo thought sluggishly. She was warm, her fur was clean, and she was floating. Nota’s newly designed T-Shirt was a sparkling emerald green. The plants and vines in the mansion loved the new look. She didn’t think it was unexpected her thoughts were bleary. There had been a lot of tastyness. Crunch meat. Crunch. Crunch!
She might be a little unaware but it wasn’t all that bad.
The dinner table and kitchen rippled until Kyo was back once more at the special place. Kudzu sat in the tiny shrub copy of her Bonsai in the middle of the table in front of her facing the others. The chair with a small wooden hut, a floating blue crystal, and Big Sis Nota were all filled.
Kyo felt her senses sharpen and the bleary sleepiness dissipated like morning dew in the desert. She snapped up straight in her chair realizing something important had to be going on. Unfortunately, she had been floating at the time. The combination caused her to flip over the table. As she approached the blue crystal there was a flicker before she slammed into the white plaster wall behind it.
Sparkling stairs and flickering darkness made Kyo dizzy as she grappled with the wall. Finally, she managed to turn around and place her back to it. She was still floating with a trickle of crimson liquid dripping onto her T-Shirt. Crossing both arms she said, “I meant to do that.” When in doubt, brazen it out!
“As you can see my Signee is completely and fully functional. There is no need to push the boundaries of the world this early. Nota’s presence has already caused a strain. If everyone was present, we might as well just crack this world open like an egg and be done with it.” Kudzu said smoothly bringing attention back on himself.
“Be that as it may, there have been multiple attempts on her life. We cannot risk the only connection in thousands of years to chance, Kudzu.” The sparkling blue floaty crystal replied.
Kudzu paused his shrubby twigs swaying and said, “What are you proposing?”
“One awake, three asleep.” The cute little hut with dust sprinkling around it said.
“That would allow us to allocate all power to the one awake ensuring safety.” Big Sis Nota said. Kyo concentrated and managed to float over to the large book. It was with relief she slumped horizontal on the cover.
Kudzu appeared to consider the matter before finally relenting from his previous hardline stance. “One awake, three asleep. Agreed. How shall we decide the one awake?”
“There is only one method that will not allow us to cheat.” The floating blue crystal said with solemness.
“So be it. We’ll let the Witch’s Dust choose.” Kudzu said with chagrin.
Comments
That would be correct, yes. I feel like I'm missing a comment somewhere though on this discussion :(

2023-01-15 01:52:06 +0000 UTCKudzu is a parasitic vine. It's just not in his nature to allow other plants to exist in Eve's garden if he can help it. Merely time passing won't cause Kudzu to invest in a Skill he will never use. Nuturing other plants is antithetical to what Kudzu is.

2023-01-15 00:58:04 +0000 UTCThe time skip is ~7,000 years.

2023-01-14 23:50:20 +0000 UTCI'm not really disagreeing with you but this is also a time skip and they all seem to be a lot more powerful than in the current Eve story wouldn't kudzu operate differently now?

2023-01-14 20:30:20 +0000 UTCKudzu never bothered with Plant Design because his method involved becoming able to steal other plants' specializations for himself and thereby replacing them in Eve's garden until he was the only one left, as a parasitic Kudzu does. Kyo is in Kudzu's position in this situation, but isn't a plant herself, and so doesn't have the same motivations. In this case, Kyo would probably be better served allowing her garden to keep their specializations, and over time and much research, steadily augment her various species or replace them with better options designed from first principles, which would obviously beat out those that naturally evolved. Kudzu would not have this Skill. so it'd have to be something built up herself (if she was Eve or one of her hypothetical Silver Witch apprentices, which she isn't), or more likely a Skill bought from the System.
