Daily Short: System 08
Added 2022-11-02 05:31:39 +0000 UTCWilson moved itself through the Dark Deeps cleaning up the threads of karma attached to Vol with unmatched speed. When the final string was cut it was impressed. The length and breadth of the problem had been immense. In terms of understanding, it had taken three entire days to fix!
That didn’t sound like a large number, Wilson understood. However, mortal minds failed to understand that time moved differently for non-mortals. A single second could be stretched to a year with the right manipulations.
At least the lightbulb’s usefulness it worth it all.Wilson thought as they moved back through their territory. It was the work of a moment to slip through one of the gates leading into the Prison Plane from Tal Mor. The Numbers predict accurately enough for me to know that Eve will be available soon.
Wilson shifted through the Prison Plane until he reached the South. It was the work of a moment of calculation to arrive next to the eldritch silver box. As they appeared beside it, two of the women nearby were summoned away.
The silver box containing Eve unraveled as speed revealing the Tier 6 Witch in her full glory.
“Greetings mortal.” Wilson said looking down their nose at Eve.
“Wilson? Why are you wearing a meatsuit?” Eve said floating to her feet and looking at it.
“Mortal. This is not a meatsuit. This is Avatar Twenty-Seven version eighteen point two nine.” Wilson said looking affronted. How dare a mere immortal miss the awesome effort placed in this meatsuit!
“Right. What did you need me for again, something about a contract?” Eve said focusing a portion of attention on them, and another portion on her allies.
“Right, talking in that voice is annoying.” Wilson said before continuing, “First things first. I have an offer on hand for a Divinity of Light who’s interested in working for you, temporarily.”
Eve looked at him with sudden suspicion and said, “Is it V’nor?”
“No, it is Vol, a slightly stronger, weirder, and messier entity.” Wilson said watching the Witch’s expression drop with every word.
“What would something like that possibly be interested in from me?” Eve said sounding quite annoyed.
“Ah, well. Vol is rather unique in their tastes.” Wilson said blandly. It was thrilling to watch the young woman’s expression go carefully blank. She clearly understood what it was conveying.
“Are you taking revenge with me Wilson?” Eve asked with a smirk.
“No. I am helping a friend.” Wilson said with a matching smirk on their meatsuit.
“Yes, yes. Very important to help friends jump off cliffs. Especially when it won’t kill them.” Eve said demurely.
“So, contract?” Wilson asked moving closer to their co-conspirator.
Eve’s face scrunched as she communicated with her allies before a piece of paper formed in the air. Golden runes write smaller than atoms decorated the paper. Both the front and back were covered before the Witch floated it over to Wilson.
“What do you think?” Eve asked.
Wilson perused the contract nodding at the terms. It wasn’t abusive, but it wasn’t a walk-over either. Nodding they said, “This will work. Understand though, any messes will have to be cleaned up by you personally in the thousand years.”
Eve waved a hand dismissively and replied, “There’s no such thing as a free lunch.”
Indeed. Wilson thought. I love it when problems solve themselves!
