Daily Short: Kyo 05

3rd Millenia After Dark Eve(M.A.D.E.)

Kyo’s emerald eyes flickered like sparkling stars as she moved from one wonderous item in the lab to the next. She was gobbling up the entire place, her eyes darting from one location to the next. Talos had lifted her over his head to restrain her and allow her to see more simultaneously. She was giggling glee at all the stunning glassware, thick tables laden with alchemic arrays, and herbs displayed before her sight.

The laboratory was immense, set within concentric circles. A single table set before the wooden door smelled of herbs and spices. It ruled over the rest of the lab, like an emperor over peasants. Kyo knew immediately that would be her favorite spot. A large green pointed hat with a metal brim set with flowers and butterfly pins were placed upon the stool that played footman to the table’s emperor.

It took Kyo quite a few minutes to calm down.

Sparklies! Kyo thought, looking at all the clean glass that would make alchemy even better. They even made sure to have small stairsteps for me at each table!

In Kyo’s opinion, the leaf-laden vines that draped around the lab’s walls were even better. They were the perfect minion to assist her in crafting. With Plant Manipulation IV, there would be no need for evil adult assistants that could steal her secret formulas.

“Is everything to your liking?” Sene asked with a smirk. Her ears and tail betrayed enjoyment at displaying Lion’s wealth.

Kyo nodded as she continued to drink in the scenery. There was enchanted glassware for the best alchemy. Wooden dressers are fronted by glass to display the herbs within their cubby holes. Tables of wood lined with small plants released a pleasing scent. Step stairs so she was able to reach the top of the tables. There were various alchemy-aiding machines placed strategically. Pipettes, scales, centrifuges, Bunsen burners, freezers, hot plates, incubators, coolers, stirrers, water baths, and fume hoods.

Thankfully, my Patron gave me knowledge of what items do! Kyo thought as she gestured to be let down by Talos. If I didn’t know anything about what everything here did, it could be horrible.

There were even some strange items that her Patron didn’t know because she did not know of them in her mind. Kyo decided immediately not to mess with anything she didn’t have a full grasp of using. It would be terrible if she attempted to use a fancy machine and broke it. What if those blinking lights and scrolling numbers were cause for alarm? Not her problem!

“Let’s start with something easy,” Kyo said as Talos picked her up. The small group moved to a table where the butcher placed her so she could swing her legs freely. “Bring me a tray, and fill it with salt.”

Kyo let spores drift off her body before taking root in the table's wooden surface. By the time a tray had returned, Sene had released the Shunka-En Bonsai onto the table. The miniature tree danced to the small wavy moss that coated the table.

“Alchemy!” Kyo said as the moss began marching toward the salted tray.

Sene and Talos watched as the entire tray got covered in thick moss. They cared for a few minutes, but both turned their eyes to Kyo when nothing happened. She had been happily mixing random herbs and chemicals into a bubbling potion flask.

“Is that safe?” Sene asked.

Kyo gave an innocent, cheerful smile as the mixture started to hiss and smoke before tilting her head to say, “Maybe…not?”
