Progress Report 11

Hello. It's me. I spent most of this week coding and writing texts for the game.

I also lost a couple of days detailing the town sketches - and it didn't work out. So today I sat down to make it straight up in 3D, just as I'm used to. Just to have something to actually show you 🤔

This is a blockout of the main square/hub with the places where the upcoming events will take place.

- Tavern

- Cartographer's house (maybe)

- Town Hall/Clock Tower

- Tailor's and Blacksmith's houses.

Other buildings will probably be in other parts of the town, which will also be made in 3D. For now, I see navigation here as a point-and-click thingy. From this very angle shown on the screenshot. What do you think?

That's all for now. Thank you for your support. Until next time!

Yes, Aster will act independently when away from the Hero. I haven't decided how this will be shown on screen yet. I'll address that in future updates. And you got it right, that "maybe" NPC will be responsible for revealing Delve maps. So I'm thinking he might be a librarian or some other scholar instead. Thanks!

I'll make buildings (and locations) generic clickables from a static view for now. And probably later I'll move that view to the center of the Town Square to make it more like a natural first person view.

Will there be any similar 'events' happening in the town like they happen in the dungeon? With your idea of sneak peeking through keyholes or other methods this would probably make for some good moments. And in regards to the cartographer, if you already see it as "maybe", why not 'upgrade' that to something like a librarian? Could provide the same (maps or dungeon info, I guess?), but also extra stuff. Like a bestiary, with infos about any creatures or enemies you already encountered, maybe more detailed info about any gear, weapons, items (like health and stamina potions), ... You could also use it to read up on game mechanics, how everything works and such, making this some sort of the game's hand- or guidebook. And at the end, if you want to have such a thing, this could be were you unlock a gallery, or can revisit certain 'animations'.

Ah yes, the typical blocky non-descript gray buildings every great town needs ^^ Looks good. As long as they end up being unique enough looking to really recognize each building/house this will be a nice way to visualize and traverse the town. Which I guess will be by clicking on the houses or waypoints?
