I'm 28 yo and have been with my "now" wife since 2010. We got together at the end of 8th grade, went to high school together, decided to go to college together, and married mid-colleague (partially for the financial benefits). We have now been happily married for 8 years. We have 2 young children and a dog; we even bought our first house together recently. I know my story may be 1 in a million, but I did want to share that ending up with a forever high school sweat heart is possible and still happens. (also, if curious, neither of us is a highly religious person nor from a small rural area. We both were born and raised in California.)

You tell someone that if they’re not into this as much it’s understandable and they reply “I’m down” seems ambiguous! Like are they down to be exclusive or are they down to keep exploring? Idk That last story is funny but they dated 2 weeks before prom. The story sounded like 1 date then nothing so were they exclusive or just dating? It was high school which you’re too dumb to ask if we’re exclusive and if she doesn’t wanna see you then wtf are you even? Glad it worked out for them

Like did they ever go on dates? Did Sally or the dude ever say bf/gf/dating? We need way more info here this story feels incomplete.

My cousin was staying with us cause his wife kicked him out cause he hadnt been working and was just doing dumb reckless shit and theyd been together like 20 years and never really got allong just stayed together for their own kids i presume. idk the full story tbh. The ex and her husband split because her husband was abusive as hell. verbally and like super controlling. he wanted to home school the kids and make her teach them and wouldnt let her go back to work and would scream at her and throw shit and had a nuts temper it was likely just inevitable he got physical directly with her. They had also been together apparently since they were like 17 or 18 and got married super fast and had 2 kids. the kids at the time were like 4 and 6 if i remember correctly. its been like 9 years i dont remember exactly. Also as it turned out she was like polyamourous as her and my cousin have a third (male) and all live together on some ranch or something last i heard here in canada.

2024-04-17 04:07:39 +0000 UTCOh yeah she texted me saying she didnt wanna hear from me again and acted like somehow i was the problem. Maybe i was too much too fast? idk man i was pretty good. Like im 21 driving her kids to daycare, taking her to the courthouse for paperwork, i had just started a new job and was getting in shit for being late because of deallign with cops when her psycho ex would break into the house in the middle of the night. i literally had to use a butter knife to jam in the door to prevent it from opening when wed go to bed at night. He smasehd the tv and took her modem so her kids couldnt watch tv. I took her on a few trips out of town and helped her with shared custody with this guy. Some additional context is how i met her was through friends of my family who were all in motorcycles if that makes any sense. So the tattoo thing was kind of a big start of it cause i helped get her new machines and was her first practice piece getting back into it. And yeah the tattoo is my whole forearm haha. I designed it with her and it does look very good considering it was done at her kitchen at midnight randomly one night. idk if ill ever cover it up tbh i like the tattoo and it taught me some shit in life. Plus the saying is kinda important to me.

But anything i did would have potentiallly hurt those kids who i liked so i didnt. plus it felt really good to be the bigger man and just walk. My family disowned that cousin. He is technically my second cousin hence the age gap, his mom is my great aunt. My mom used to drive her to cancer appointments and treatment and my cousins sisters used to baby sit me when i was a kid. So like... his family wasnt happy and his mom was still alive when this went down ( his mom passed two weeks after my grandma) and she smacked him for me haha. they both tried to make up stories about what happened but like i had proof of everything at one point and it just didnt hold. I had gotten my grandfathers inheritance shortly after me and her started dating and i spent all of it helping her. New phone cause her ex husband was a psycho and smashed hers, fixed her truck, paid her rent for a month while she looked for work. Pretty sure thats the only reason she stuck around at all looking back. The only thing i did in retaliation of any kind was when we met at my grandmother sfuneral and he brought her i confronted them and said some shit. The best one being looking at them both and then looking at the cousin and telling him to remember everytime they kiss where her mouth was first. as crass as it is it was fucking funny and made me chuckle so i won. Im 30 now, been single since this, did some therapy, enjoying my life, big chillin. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

I had to drive him back to his house and wait with him before his mom took him to the ER; the whole time he talked about how we’d go to the same college (we didn’t) and be together while I was just sitting there waiting to go home.
