them talking about how uncomfortable it was to bring up periods and bras to their parents is insane to me... im also around the same age as maya, and these things were so normal. Like around the age of 12 my mom would have me carry a pad in case my period started and brought me to get lingerie with her around the age that i would start needing bras. Thats insane that someone would feel embarrassed and uncomfortable to bring this up.

Honestly just teaching kids actual biology and normal body female & male body functions from a young age helps a lot. People worry about age appropriateness but like kids learning about real biology is age appropriate. They don't have stigma around sex organs until much later, which you can prevent. There are educational learning games that would be fine for kids if there wasn't so much stigma. Also, just talk to your kids. Bring it up casually and regularly. Give them books. Answer their questions truthfully. Don't do any of the stork brings babies or mommy and daddy are in love so they got a baby shit. I kept several of my friends from getting pregnant when I was a teen because I had the education.

Parents bought me my first box of condoms when i started dating my first gf and everything. Like was always a very polite conversation and imo healthy.
