2024-03-07 15:19:58 +0000 UTCThis was so interesting. How do we know how old it is and that it hasn’t evolved?

2023-06-28 02:49:33 +0000 UTCI've heard there are now alternatives to horseshoe crab blood. But I have no clue how far along that has come.

2023-05-06 18:03:21 +0000 UTCjust watched a clip of your stream where you discovered "water scorpions," you should do a mini ep on these! they remind me of stink bugs (pics on google)

2023-05-04 21:20:16 +0000 UTCI love how Maya is so apologetic about this feeling incomplete, as if we are all experts on horseshoe crabs and will be gravely offended by the ommission of a small detail about them.

2023-05-02 01:38:51 +0000 UTCngl i didnt even know there was supposed to be a schedule to these or that this was late. i log in here and there and there's an animal video and im like "alright man". remaining unchanged for that long is an incredible commitment to the bit. 10/10 thats a nice crab.

2023-04-28 23:27:46 +0000 UTCDang horseshoe crabs are sick! Sucks we farm them for blood though :/ but hopefully they help a lot of people. These episodes are cool and awesome to see your excitement in doing these :)

2023-04-28 17:02:36 +0000 UTCCampaigning for a vulture episode!! Theyre my favorite animal and are so important as scavengers and are being threatened due to the use of lead bullets causing so much lead poisoning and they typically don't make it or live with neurological issues that make them unreleaseable :( [eagles too]

2023-04-28 16:24:30 +0000 UTCA few more things to supplement: When mating, females give males piggyback rides up to the shore! And then they do their thing... Scientists take about 30% of their blood and I want to say mortality rate is like 15%ish but I'm not totally positive on that. Most of what we know about vision comes from horseshoe crab research! Lastly, that one you saw in MA was likely more than 10 years old from the things living on its carapace :O (they can live to around 20)

2023-04-28 16:14:05 +0000 UTCWho needs evolution when you got it right on the first try? That was really cool though and I’m once again campaigning for Pangolins.

2023-04-28 13:42:25 +0000 UTCI love these lil episodes so much!! this one reminds me when I was a kid my family briefly lived on a beach that horseshoe crabs would wash ashore and my dad always told me we had to flip them back over so we would have good luck
