Patreons Fee Changes, A Sketch and My Reaction.

So I just got word from patreon that they will be changing their system a bit and putting the cost of some of the fees onto pledgers instead of it all coming out of my monthly amount.
This is something I have absolutely no control over and the platform has just sprung this news on me as well. It will only make a very small change to your pledge amounts luckily. Those that will be effected most are the lowest tiers who support many artists with small pledges since each pledge will now be subject to a 2.9% + $0.35 fee.
I feel bad about changing my pricing right after patreon changed their pricing so I am going to give you guys on the old tier system another month so these changes all don't come at once. So I will not be retiring my old 1,3,5,10 tiers until the beginning of February now instead of the beginning of January.
Again these changes in how the taxes are done should only make a small impact on you.
I don't know how I feel about this new system, on the one hand I will have a more reliable monthly amount and a small increase to the amount I take home, but for the trouble it will cause my patreons I don't know if it is worth it. Especially with them announcing it only 10 days before it is implemented and right before Christmas >.> *Sigh*

PS) I also attached a sketch that was in last weeks speedpaint sketchbook of zoey in the shower so this post is more then just boring news. I have dreams of finishing this in color one day, but I don't think I have the time to do it anytime soon.

There isn't really another platform that I am aware of that has the same incredibly useful features as patreon, so I will stay here for now and just pray I don't lose to many subscribers. This was such a terrible decision on the part of the creators of the website, I have emailed them as told them as much. I was happy to pay the fees before to keep it simple for everyone. If another platform rises to compete well with this one I may also run the same service through that website, so people can choose which platform to support and still receive the same content. What a nightmare >.>

Here is the pull-quote: “Starting December 18th, we will apply a new service fee of 2.9% + $0.35 that patrons will pay for each individual pledge. This service fee helps keep Patreon up and running.” Brush, take a look at Kickstarter drip, it might prove a viable alternative.
