Revisiting WIPs | Vash

Sometimes there's WIPs that are not getting picked up again for a good while.

Usually for me it's simply because I found a better expression with a similar idea down the road, but sometimes it's simply a matter of being overall dissatisfied and not willing to adjust an already existing WIP of the past when it's more fun to just do something new.

This was my first attempt at Vash from Trigun Stampede right after I started watching the show and I wasn't satisfied with the way his face looked. I think I didn't get myself familiar enough with him yet and also created this sketch in a bit of a rush from this first wave of enthusiasm.
The idea got then reworked in another artwork in a more subtle way.

While I tend to simply move on and not revisit WIPs all that often, especially if the idea was already recycled, this one somehow found its way back in my active drafts. The idea and themes are similar still, but with a better knowledge of the world and characters it felt easier this time to find the flaws and readjust what's already been done.

It's a somewhat rare occasion, but when an old WIP gets new life and actually gets finished, it's a unique pleasing feeling of cleaning up after yourself.
