2022-04-17 16:22:00 +0000 UTCThe interesting thing about Avatar Day is that Chin the Great is clearly a reference to Shihuangdi the King of Qin (pronounced chin) who basically unified China as it's first Emperor, but killed a lot of people to do it, and was definitely tyrannical. The famous terracotta warriors are part of his gigantic tomb complex. The idea that Kyoshi stopped him is pretty interesting for the implications of the Earth Kingdom history, and it also subtly sets up the idea that the Fire Nation are not uniquely evil in their conquest. Sokka is rating the torch as a prop, because he's looking to replace his boomerang as part of his identity!

You can take the clean audio from the show, and subtract if from your combined track to create a clean version of JUST your reaction track. Also, yes the Rock talked about himself in the third person and yes that Fire nation guy is based on USSR themed wrestlers from the 80s I think. Always impressed by your guesses lol.

It's probably already been said, and I haven't confirmed it, but I've heard that the Boulder was supposed to be voiced by the Rock. Whether that's true, and it fell through, or if it's one of those "The writers were thinking of the Rock when they wrote this character", it's a really interesting Fan story at the very least.

I've seen the show sooo many times, but it never gets old. And I'm always finding new things to appreciate! I enjoy seeing the parts that stuck with you, and parts that frustrated you like Zuko's teenage angst and irrational behavior towards Uncle. If your first reaction makes it to the YouTube cut that'd be awesome, but if not it's still a pleasure to see the show through your perspective!!

Since you didn't have the time to watch it it probably would have been better for you and since you have to edit it later doing it when you had time this week. Just a suggestion and so you know what the audience prefers. Full reaction is less important than a first reaction.

Most characters/bending have specific martial arts they follow, Toph's specific style is modeled after Southern Praying Mantis style

I'm speaking for myself here, I know, but I don't want you to feel obligated to pump out video after video on such a rigorous schedule. If you need to dial it back to just two movies a week. Do it. One movie a week? Go for it. One movie one week and a TV show the next week? Sounds great! Whatever you need to do and whatever you need to prioritize then do it. I'll keep on being here cause you put out great content, and rank at the top of any other movie/show reactors I watch. Just don't burn yourself out to the point where you hate doing reactions. Don't let something that I assume you love to do, become something you hate. And yeah, so far 2022 has been some crazy shit, but don't beat yourself up for a mistake. Shit happens, we move on and adjust. You got this.

2022-02-22 19:36:00 +0000 UTCBeen loving these reactions, and, if you're interested there is a way to fix your original reaction, isolating your reaction audio from the show audio. You import the audio that has both the show and your voice, then add a second audio track of the show's audio by itself, synced up with the first track. Then you invert the phase of the second track. (the one that's just the show). This will cancel out the show's audio on your original recording, leaving only your voice. This can be done even with basic audio software like Audacity. It's a handy trick to know, so I figured I'd share.

Not gonna lie that "twinkle toes" line makes my heart smile :) On a sadder note, I was pretty sure we will continue with Korra when you are done with ATLA but I'm not that sure anymore :) it's all good though. I definitely understand the frustration, but there's nothing you can do and it's not worth getting too harsh on yourself over. Though I must admit it is quite unfortunate we won't get to witness the genuine first reaction to Toph - who, though I adore Uncle Iroh with all my heart, just might be my favorite character in the entire series.

2022-02-22 17:57:25 +0000 UTCHey, not commenting on the technical problems or anything, but if you're still not into this so far into the show, you might wnat to reconsider wathcing it altogether. True, this is not considered to be one of the best episodes, but there is childish humour throughout the show, even until the end and even in more serious episodes, so this might not be your cup of tea; most people I know appreciate the series not despite its childishness, but also because of it. I personally doesn't see any problem with it, and I learned to enjoy it after considering what it is supposed to be in the first place. That said, I don't think it is healthy at all to force yourself to do a reaction that you don't want to do, of something that you may not like, if that's the case.

I completely understand, when your life is going crazy and then a seemingly small thing like this happens, it's one of the most annoying things. Honestly, I feel like a solution for if something like this should happen again, maybe just do a review of the episode or something like that, basically what you do at the end of episodes, just a few minutes longer or so. Idk maybe this is stupid but I don't want you to feel pressured to basically redo your reaction especially if you're not in an upbeat mood at all anymore, which is completely understandable, and especially if you didn't really enjoy the episode that much.

2022-02-22 17:52:07 +0000 UTCToph is by far my favorite character. the team behind avatar put a lot of work into the movement of the fighting each element is a different style of martial arts, but for Toph they get her, her own unique fighting style called the "southern praying mantis" style. That's also why she has 2 fuzz balls on either side of her headband to represent the big eyes of a mantis. Also you are right Nat, the boulder was heavily inspired by The Rock.

The worst thing that could happen to you and to your fans/Patreon supporters is you getting burned out. I'm sure that you want to continue to build your audience and this community, but yeah, maybe it's time to slow down a bit. Yes, I always want more content, but more than that, I would like you to stick around with truly genuine reactions. That's what drew me here. So don't force it. Take breaks when you need to take breaks. Maybe you'll drop some subscribers, in the short term, but I think the vast majority of us would prefer that you find a pace that's sustainable for you and that maintains the quality that brought us all here in the first place.
