Anne Heche: When Community Doesn't Show Up

That interviewer was so inappropriate and cruel towards Anne. Plus it was so awful how she had so much trauma in her life - from being the victim of incest to being tormented by other people for being bisexual. You're definitely right about how we all need to support each other as queers no matter what our lgbtqia identity is. Thanks so much for making this video, and I'm extremely glad that you're happy about coming out to your loved ones.

I definitely wish people were allowed to just be who they are which includes "figuring it out" for part of their lives, sometimes more than once. I don't know if I'm just some kind of straight, or ace, or what. But even if i'm straight with 'damage' that stops me from having relationships, I know what it's like to be artificially restricted by other people. To be repeatedly pushed into a corner by others, to be denied, to be confined to places whether or not i wanted to stay there to the point that it's difficult sometimes to just break free and 'experiment'. And that goes for everything, including sexual and romantic relationships, but all other aspects of identity as well. I understand that so many of us have a problem not replicating the plethora of ways our society restricts and confines us, but it's really frustrating coming up against it in loved ones.

What a bizarre and horrible interview. Anne was clearly unwell and raised in a deeply troubled and traumatizing home. That is true whether the allegations about her father are accurate or not. To be clear, I say that because recovered memory therapy is dangerous pseudoscience that often results in false and implanted memories of abuse. But Anne was a victim of it, not a collaborator. She needed real help and never got it.

The bi/pan struggle is real! As a cis woman, I never got to be in anything other than a situationship with a woman bc I only met lesbians who claimed I was a tourist.

Happy Pride! As someone who is slowly coming to terms with my bisexuality in my late 30s, I really learned a lot from this video and you articulated some ideas and thoughts that I've been struggling with for the past few years. As always you are such a kind and affirming voice and I appreciate to immensely!
