I think you covered pretty much everything! Especially your points about how, as a fictional character, development can be trusted to be static and not fluid like real people. I think it’s become really popular to simultaneously give characters far too much agency and the actual creators of the show not enough to the point where people seem to forget they’re watching a show made by people who had something they wanted to say (and even tell you so in interviews). It’s another pet peeve about modern media criticism I have. All that to say, I love mess, too! When it’s well-written at least and Noelle (who is a real one!!!) and the crew definitely know how to write well!
