Hot Luck Fest (Throwback Thursday)
Added 2024-08-29 07:00:02 +0000 UTCfor this week's installment of throwback thursday, we went to a food festival in austin, texas. shocking, right? this is the hot luck fest, which is a weekend food festival held annually by aaron franklin, the owner of the famous franklin bbq in austin, texas.
the schtick (one of them, anyway) is that they bring in guest chefs from outside of austin. and at this event, we got to meet two of our FAVORITE chefs: mason hereford, the owner/chef at turkey and the wolf in new orleans, and christina tosi, the owner/chef at milk bar (around the US).
the hash brown thing doesn't look like much, but that's mason's thing. it's a hash brown with the famous duke's mayo (a southern mayo that's creamy and spiced) and topped with salmon roe. and at milk bar, we got their famous cereal milk soft serve, and christina topped ours for us!!!
