His idol (need help)

I know ultimately were I want this story to end up, but for this next part I can't think of good ideas or situations that will give Paul confidence to be seen as female.
Do you lovely people have any ideas? The writers block with this one is strong....so any ideas, feel free to comment them

Since the mother/son relationship has firmly been established perhaps interaction with one of new work characters is warranted. Romance? Envy? Competition? Just remember to have fun with it.
