You made the comment about Marty Baron and why he was wanting this whole scandal to be investigated because you thought he was once a victim himself. I thought the same thing the first time I saw this movie. I thought it was kinda weird that he was pushing so hard for the Spotlight team to investigate the church that he may have a personal agenda. Turns out he just felt the initial story of the first priest was important enough to get Spotlight on it.

A great reaction to a powerful movie. As you said uncomfortable, but important enough to overcome the uncomfortable nature of the topic to be open and honest and allow discussion. Great work

Hi Bisscute πŸ˜€ From San Antonio Texas USA πŸ˜€ Wonderful reaction and analysis and commentary πŸ˜€πŸ‘ I am so glad you used the word "uncomfortable" as this is how you should feel. I grew up Catholic and went to Catholic School until 6th grade. All the teachers were nuns and women. I was in the boy's choir. Thankfully in my parish I did not hear of any situations going on and yet I was not an altar boy.. I remember when the crisis broke out in the '80s and Pope John Paul II tried to sweep it under the rug. This movie is a great example of investigative journalism where the journalists are like bulldogs and will not let go of the story. Unfortunately, as you say, there are victims and casualties in situations like this. There have been discussions about the celibacy issue as the Catholic church is the only order that continues to disallow marriage. Thank you for all your hard work and I appreciate you so very much. Have a great day and God bless you with much love and prayers for strength and good health bye bye πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸ’ͺβ€οΈβœ”οΈ

Great movie, but can be a very hard watch at times. I like all the investigative reporting parts. Great cast too! Also as a fellow survivor, I can sadly relate.

Street priests" (or streetwise priests) are Roman Catholic clergy, and sometimes other Christian ministers, who take their ministry out of traditional church buildings directly into public spaces, focusing on serving the poor, homeless, and marginalized. They, along with street pastors, engage in active outreach, evangelization, and social work in communities.

A catechism is a summary or exposition of religious doctrine, often formatted as a series of questions and answers, designed as a teaching tool for instruction in Christian principles. It acts as a manual of faith, outlining key beliefs, sacraments, and moral principles, most commonly used in Catholic, Anglican, and Protestant traditions.

such a good movie, important movie that should be seen and shared and discussed. don't let this kind of stuff be swept under the rug.

Mister Lou

"Lapse" in this context would mean they were once practicing; however, they are no longer currently active or participating in a religion/church.
