Technically, this one wasn't a spaghetti western, as it was Clint Eastwood who produced and directed it and it was done here in the United States. It does share some similarities to the style, however. Spaghetti westerns were produced in Europe and had a unique style to them, They came to be known as spaghetti westerns because the creator of the style and producer of the most prolific ones was Sergio Leone, an Italian (hence spaghetti) director. Clint Eastwood did appear in many of Leone's films and was a star in all of his big hits. Some of the styling of this movie can be traced back to Leone, however in general it is a more derivative work of Clint's own vision of the American west circa the late 1800s. Another great western, and probably more your tempo, is "Open Range" with Kevin Costner (Dances With Wolves) and Robert Duvall. I'm not sure what you've seen with Duvall but he is ALWAYS worth the price of admission.
