AC/DC sounds nothing like Kiss. I would rather they take my pool water than have my house burn down, not to mention all the animals that die in fires. Always (1989) is another movie about forest firefighters.

2024-05-30 14:02:37 +0000 UTCSo, you had a few different kinds of fire fighting methods in this. The first they mention is the fire line, this is a quickly cleared area to try and prevent the spread of a fire. It is usually just a bulldozer knocking down trees and brush to create a line about the width of a single lane road. The second method they use is the fire break. These are the trench like paths they cut that are usually 2 to 3 times wider than a fire line and cleared of everything down to bare soil. These are usually too wide for a fire to jump across except in cases of high wind. There is also the controlled burn, which they use to preburn an area usually contained within fire breaks. This is what they mean by fighting fire with fire. It creates a very large area they can monitor on their own terms and in their own time and eliminate an area where the fire can spread later.

2024-05-29 17:42:23 +0000 UTCMan, that comment from the young wife to her husband, “You have NO right to do that to yourself! ….. to US!!!” She means that he’s not allowed to get haunted by survivor’s guilt to the point where’s not present for his family. She’s saying You had courage for sticking with me and this baby! You had courage just to go up there! Have the courage to face these demons, exorcise them and be with us as we grow this family” That’s pretty exceptional insights to him feeling survivor’s guilt mixed with fears of self-worth/‘brave’/competent/‘still a man!’ and she comes up, in two lines, a perfect counter argument to those fears.
