Groundhog Day Full Uncut

Comments

Wonderful film. Sweet, simple, but also a super interesting concept in terms of character especially; the plot might be familiar but this was a morality play in order that main character Phil Connors does enrich his life by learning new things, becoming educated, being interested in people, learning how to love properly, and fundamentally, become a better person. He wasn't a *bad* person at the start per se, but he was not a nice person; he was selfish, condescending, rude, bitter, and lacking in generosity. It was all of these traits that he reversed throughout the film that restored the regular time continuum; finally, he earned his tomorrow. πŸ™

I did remembered the general story of the movie, but not the details (probably the last time I was this movie was arround 25 years ago, maybe more). As a kid, the repeating loop is what I found fascinating. Now as an adult, I only see this as a gimmick to tell a good redemption arc. At the first half of the movie in this time I was convinced I was gonna "hate" Phil no matter what they tried to tell us. But because they show how Phil put the effort in becaming a better person (althought at the beginning this effort was missdirected into the wrong reasons) I think that the redemption works (usually we see just the protagonist becaming good because of the things that happens to him). P.S.: I thougth he was washing his face in the toilet the first time too.

The running version is great too, Run Lola Run. BTW, if you haven't seen it yet, ARQ is also a good one to check out.

Bull Murray didn’t do much acting in the first half of the movie he’s a real diva a-hole in real life.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I still prefer the sci-fi version of this concept, Edge of Tomorrow. Groundhog Day with guns and Aliens, it just doesn't get better than that.

Phil didn't see his shadow this morning. So that means absolutely nothing in reality, but according to tradition, it means an early spring.

I live just outside of Pittsburgh Pa, Groundhog Day is a pretty big event in this area every year. All the local media covers it.

It's not something we actually "celebrate". It's just one of those goofy holidays that have no real meaning or importance, like Flag Day or Kwanzaa...

I see what you did there, you sneaky little devil! I give it a 4 out of 5. And remember, "Don't drive angry!"

Perfect timing!
