2025-04-01 19:09:02 +0000 UTCYep this is one of my favorite things about re zero. Lots of ppl will crap on him not knowing that how they want him to use his powers is WRONG. Series basically comes around and slaps them in the face by showing them that this whole time the kid they are criticizing is actually succeeding where they would fail lol That all the “advice” or ideas the viewers who hate on Subaru have would have actually led him down the bad endings that we see in the what if stories. Re zero is brilliantly written and I’ve yet to find anyone that actually predicts what and how the tea party with all the witches was going to play out. It’s easy to hate on Subaru and everyone falls for that. Even people like myself who heavily related to Subaru and you’d expect to understand him end up getting annoyed by him at first. Only to be hit with that “love yourself” theme and start self reflecting lol

2025-03-31 20:20:23 +0000 UTCSomething often criticized about subaru is how he doesn't abuse his power. I think this season addresses it amazingly. He starts to see the world as trial runs, completely disregards himself, and if anything, shows us how desensitized we are to him dying. I know 99% of people wished he'd reset after his fight with Emilia lol. Glad he reached that answer in episode 13 because it gives more meaning to the current life he's on.

2025-03-31 14:42:48 +0000 UTCI know you finished Season 2 so you may already know this already 😂 but I'll comment it anyway Roswaal wanting Subaru to be like him is important to his plans. Roswaal wants to kill the Dragon as told to us in Season 1. Hence why Roswaal found Emilia as a Royal Selection candidate to sponsor. In this episode we find out it was him who kinda manipulated her into it with the promise of possibly finding a way to free the villagers in the forest. What importance does Subaru have to do with Roswaal's plans? He needs Subaru for his Return by Death ability. Having an instant restart button is extremely useful to Roswaal. So what does Roswaal want with Subaru? He wants to perfect Subaru as his weapon. To mold him into a person who is willing to sacrifice everything for the goal - including his own worth. "You love Emilia and want to do everything for her, right?" Subaru will become a person capable of ending his own life when needed, and capable of making sacrifices for the sake of Emilia. That's exactly what he's doing with this Sanctuary and Mansion scenario. Cornering Subaru where he has no choice but to accept that sacrifices must be made, for Emilia. Nobody else matters. Just Emilia. Not even yourself. You are just a tool to help Emilia and get her to the throne. That is what Roswaal wants.
