Lishu was the target. Her taster switched her meal with Maomao's lady. That taster doesn't, or didn't know what alergies are. By switching the dishes that taster saved her life

You're correct that Lady Lishu was the target of the poison, per Jinshi and Maomao's discussion at the end. The reason that the lady-in-waiting was smiling when Lishu ate the food is something you'll learn soon, I believe next episode (if you haven't watched it already). You picked up a bit on it already, when you mentioned that the servant's attire was almost opposite to Lishu's. Based on the reaction from the lady-in-waiting, she didn't know that the dish was something Lishu was allergic to. Remember when Maomao mentioned "Maybe she doesn't like fish?", that's very likely what the servant assumed too. The servant likely didn't intend to kill or even physically harm Lady Lishu in any way.

2024-10-30 19:48:03 +0000 UTCThe food tester swapped the food as some sort of harassment because they thought that Lady lishu was Just being a picky eater as seen in the opening Scene, not knowing that she is allergic to fish. All while by mistake also swapping the soup someone else poisoned to my understanding
