Thorfinn constantly dreaming of a place with lush, fertile lands just like it was described to when they talked about Vinland, goes to show how much he actually wants to be there. So proud of Einar and how much he's willing to stand up for the things he loves. You could say that, he was a true warrior. He didn't need a sword, he just needed something to protect. Just like Thors. These nightmares Thorfinn is having are so terrifying, I couldn't imagine going through all that. If I had to live with that kind of burden, I'd want to die too. "You have no enemies. Nobody has any enemies. There's no one who it's okay to hurt. There never was." Truer words have never been spoken. I feel like Thorfinn finally starts to understand the meaning of those words now that he's walked down a similar path of war his father did, killing hundreds of people and then suffering for it. "In this place, everyone besides yourself is your enemy." Pretty much directly opposite of what his father told him. It's like saying that Thorfinn's past was literally the opposite of what his father would've wanted for him. And it's true. I think Thorfinn is wrong here. He's not a warrior because he struck someone in a fit of rage. A true warrior isn't a person who doesn't fight. A true warrior is someone who fights for something dear to them. Not to take, but to defend. I'm glad Thorfinn is finally coming to terms with his past. He's finally starting to understand what it is that he needs to do. He needs to accept his past, the person he was and atone for the wrongdoing he's done. Become someone who doesn't take, but protects. A true warrior. He's not there yet, but he's closer to being the person his father wanted him to be. The ending song fits so well here. What an amazing episode, my favorite of this show. Seeing Thorfinn finally smile after so many years, wow. That's amazing. To think to rid the world of war and slavery, it's a big dream. It's a noble one for sure. All around good news this episode, they finished their work, became even better friends and managed to get a discount to buy themselves out of slavery. Also now that it's happened, I can say that it's interesting to see someone like Canute become what Thorfinn was in season 1, a ruthless killer basically. And Thorfinn become someone who Canute was in season 1, a pacifist in a way. Speaking of Canute being a ruthless killer, he's also being haunted like Thorfinn was. He's being haunted in a different way though. The curse of the crown as they say. Some people say greed for power and wealth. To kill your own brother with poison. Truly despicable.

This episode really makes you realize how much Thorfinn has been through and that the "killing" isn't something you can just forget. War is terrible and innocent people get caught in it. My boy Askeladd MVP with that speech. "Even if they're hanging off you, keep climbing! Climb! That's your battle. Go! Take the people you killed with you! Fight your true battle! Become a true warrior, Thorfinn!"
