The Devil's Advocate (1997) - Movie WATCH ALONG!!

Comments

Hearing "The Devil's Advocate" I immediately think of someone with bad intentions whispering into someone's ear over their shoulder (even though that's not what "advocate" means I still picture that scenario for some weird reason) so I honestly went into this with no preconceptions of the devil actually being in this and thinking Pacino was just gonna be a collegue whispering in his ear giving him bad advice 😅 so completely blew me and my predictions out of the water lol...... Absolutely broke my heart for Mary Anne and it felt like the minute she dyed and cut her hair was her descent into the darkness because her blonde curly hair felt fun and full of life and so vibrant to me and then after her hair change it felt like she started to spiral into darkness and lost all her light and left her in the dark.... Almost like she lost her halo and fell from heaven into hell.... Amazing movie glad I gave it a watch!!

What a fun reaction and a first watch for me too! Highly recommend watching Hell House LLC and The Taking of Deborah Logan. Both are found footage movies 😊

This movie was one of the first Keanu movies I watched... Him and Pacino just eat it up on this one... I feel like they would have worked together more after this...

Has everyone over at Reel Rejects watched Matilda? I'd love to see a Roxy/Tara shejects reaction to that one... Tara would adore this movie if she hasn't checked it out... The 90's era one BTW... The new musical is good but in a much different way...

I first saw this in theaters when it came out, and it holds so much nostalgia for me! It was one of a number of films (new at the time versus the older classics) that really put me on the path to my deep love of horror, psychological thriller, tension-driven narratives, etc. Charlize Theron always steals the show for me, and I think she's excellent in this one!!

Taylor Hackford is an awesome director. Some great films that he has also directed that would be great to react to: An Officer and a Gentleman, White Nights, Ray, and Parker.
