Love when people discover this masterclass in writing, directing and acting. Nicole became one of my fav actresses here. Love this!
To answer your question about the disease to light, yes it’s called XP. It’s a rare condition but they cannot be exposed to sunlight. Less than 10 minutes can cause 3rd degree burns and most kids don’t survive to adulthood.
I found out about this from this movie’s DVD behind the scenes. After I saw this in theaters I had to own it and I got the box set.
On that box sex is alot of behind the scenes and there is a whole segment on this disease and the people who suffer from it. They form support community groups that get together at night.
There is a snippet of it on youtube, you guys should check out.

When this came out there wasn't anything like it so there weren't things to look for with clues. This movie and The Sixth Sense more started the Psychological Thriller genre. So the ending was a huge twist. I think she went crazy because the husband died. The mom saw the old woman when she looked at her daughter. She had the same eyes.

I love this movie. So underrated. I didn’t see the twist coming at all, even though I’d already seen the Sixth Sense. Nicole Kidman did a great job as a woman going mad, and Alakina Mann did a fantastic job as Anne.
