GREASE (1978) - Movie WATCH ALONG!!

I know right ha.. and them talking about how they were like hey John can really dance.. ha.. That's how i grew up knowing him was more for his dancing than acting.

You guys should react to Grease Live! Vanessa Hudgens plays Rizzo in it, and it's more of that stage musical that you were mentioning. I personally like it better than this film because I feel that Grease is done better as a live production.

If you ever really wanna laugh/cringe and get awkward-to-sing-out-loud songs stuck in your head, watch Grease 2 starring Michelle Pfeiffer! 😉

You guys should check out the musical Dreamgirls if you haven’t seen it already it won two Oscars has Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy, and Jamie foxx, it’s sooooo good! Highly recommend

You have to remember the time, life was more simplistic then. Movie plots were simpler then also. Being a teenager becoming a young adult are the stakes because that varies from person to person. So taking a group of friends last year in high school as a plot device mixed with a musical and a love story.. that’s all that was needed. Many more of those songs are known to people especially Beauty School Dropout and Rizzo’s Sandra D. Just remember, in musicals, the lyrics to the songs are important to pay attention to. Musicals convert you from following a story told over an extended amount of time to make you care, into a concert where a singer has a song length to do the same thing. So listening and paying attention to the lyrics of the songs are important. The songs in musicals are where you connect to a character emotionally. 👍🏿

loved this movie so was happy to see you guys react to it, my highschool did this musical so I know all the songs very well! Oh and random fun fact: Carly Rae Jepsen went to my highschool and she played Sandy which was cool. Classic musical forsure!

Aaron taking shots at French Montana wasn't on my bingo card to end the year lol

Dustin Duvall

Prime video in the united kingdom has it to stream

Love the newbies. I also got to see the touring production and it was a lot of fun

Not only did John Travolta play Danny in the stage production also, so did Patrick Swayze. Some people feel Patrick could do “bad boy” better than John. John and Olivia remained close friends over the years and I feel badly for John Travolta because his teenage son died in 2009 from a seizure and then Olivia died in 2017 after a 30 year battle with breast cancer and then John’s wife also died of breast cancer in 2020. She was an actress named Kelly Preston. I understand what you were saying about Grease and High School Musical as I like both movies, but I’m a kid of the late 70’s and 80’s and grew up watching this movie, so it’s pure nostalgia for me. BTW Greg, Danny’s friend Kenickie is pronounced like hickey, hence the line “a hickey from Kenickie is like a Hallmark card…” the actor, Jeff Conaway was known for being on the 70’s TV show Taxi with Danny DeVito and Tony Danza. He was actually married to Rona Newton John for a few years who was Olivia’s older sister. Speaking of adults playing high schoolers, John was 23 and Olivia was 29!!!!!!!!! And yes, she was Australian. I remember they showed this movie on network TV and they deleted the entire Greased Lightning scene because of the crude lyrics.

it hurt me when aaron said whos sha na na lol oh so much musical history that has to be catched up on lol Sha Na Na was an American rock and roll and doo-wop revival group formed in 1969. The group performed a song-and-dance repertoire based on 1950s hit songs that both revived and parodied the music and the New York City street culture of the 1950s and they were the band playing at the high school dance!

Cool musical to react to would be the cult Disney classic musical, Newsies. Also, great cast. Christian Bale, Robert DuVall, Bill Pullman, and Ann-Margaret. Also, the story is inspired by the real Newspaper boys strike in 1899 in New York City. Also, the soundtrack to this film is amazing. One of the most underrated soundtracks in the Disney catalog.

At the Premeire, they had Olivia Newton John dress like Sandy at the beginning. Then, left the premeire and came back and was dressed as Sandy at the end of the film when people were exiting.

You got to get Aaron to react to American Graffiti. Such a funny film. :)

I can totally understand you guys just thinking it was a bit of fun, just okay. It’s a fun piece of nostalgia for a lot of people, but I doubt it would be made exactly as is today - ‘ooh Sandy had to change herself to get her man’ when really, as someone else in the YouTube comments - and both of you - pointed out, they BOTH changed themselves to prove how much they wanted each other. Today it would be ‘Sandy chooses the bear and the movie is over’. Danny thought Sandy wanted a clean-cut athlete, Sandy thought Danny only wanted a bad girl, when really a bit of honest communication between the two and Danny not being such a bro around his friends would have cleared it all up. Olivia (rest in peace) was Australian, they even changed Sandy’s background once she was cast to fit her. She was a very talented lady. My family used to watch her sing on Carols by Candlelight when she came home to Australia. If you haven’t seen Xanadu I recommend it, but leave your brains at the door if you do - it’s very cheesy and the acting (aside from Olivia and Gene Kelly) is questionable 😂 Grease 2 was begged for by a couple of people but it’s nowhere near as ‘good’ as this. It does has the bonus of baby Michelle Pfeiffer, and some catchy songs but it’s so cheesy. You’ll probably like it less than Camp Rock 😂 Teen Angel ‘Beauty School Drop-out’ bully singer is Frankie Avalon, who was a huge teen idol in the 50s and 60s, and co-starred a lot with Annette Funicello, one of the OG Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeers. They starred in a bunch of Beach Party movies together. My fave is the one they made in the 80s called Back to the Beach, but that’s the one I grew up with. Corny stuff but fun, a bit like b-grade Elvis movies. He still plays shows to this day. Stockard Channing (Rizzo) is a great actress, she has a bit part in the First Wives’ Club and a bigger part in Practical Magic, both movies I highly recommend! They actually made a TV special called Grease Live with Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo which was interesting casting. I never saw it, though.
