The Twilight Saga: ECLIPSE (2010) - Movie WATCH ALONG!!

Imprinting is the INVOLUNTARY mechanism by which Quileute shape-shifters find their soulmates. The reason for imprinting is unknown, although some members of the Quileute tribe have various theories. Sam believes that a shape-shifter imprints on the person with whom he has the best chance to reproduce. Billy, however, thinks that imprinting is designed to make the shape-shifter stronger. Imprinting can occur anytime after a wolf's first phasing. It can happen with anyone, regardless of previous personal feelings. It happens the first time he sees the person he's imprinting on. It can't be forced on anyone, no matter how much they may want it, as shown by Jacob when he tried numerous times to imprint on Bella. So far, only male shape-shifters have imprinted on girls or women, regardless of their ages. Once shape-shifters have imprinted, they will feel the need to constantly be in their soulmate's presence and to unconditionally give them whatever they want or need. It is described as being gravitationally pulled toward that person, and everyone and everything else in his life becomes secondary, and only the imprintee matters. "You become whatever she needs you to be, whether that's a brother, a friend or a lover, but above all, he is her protector. The imprinter will not "see" any other woman as their imprintee is all he cares about and he will love her even if she rejects him, which she can. It is, however, implied that rejection is highly unlikely. Also, it is law that no wolf may harm the imprintee of a fellow pack member, as this will lead to destructive in-pack fighting. As for this movie: Yes, Jacob is way out of line (and the lines are cringey as hell) but apparently the reason why he changed so dramatically is because Stephanie Meyer didn't like that people were rooting for him and Bella instead of Edward and Bella, so she had to try to make him unlikable in the future movies. I still think Jacob is far less problematic and suits Bella better than Edward does. And while constantly pursuing someone like Jacob is doing is not cute or romantic, he IS right. Bella DOES have feelings for him that she doesn't want to admit. Whether that's love I don't know but it's obvious. Yeah, she kisses him because he threatens to kill himself (which is cruel and manipulative on his part) but she's also clearly enjoying that kiss. Bella is kind of having her cake and eating it too. Her words say she wants Edward but her actions are all over the place. She IS leading Jacob on in a way and I think it's because she just doesn't know what the hell she wants. Also, before you applaud Edward for being more mature, you have to remember that spiritually and emotionally he is over a 100 years old, while Jacob is only 16/17. Edward comes from a different time where sex before marriage wasn't a thing. But I get what you're saying about how he seems more concerned about HER virtue. I feel like they are both in the wrong. Edward is pressuring her about the marriage thing and Bella is pressuring him about the sex thing. All I'm gonna say is wait and see what happens. I wish they had concentrated more on each of the Cullen's backstories. They could've made a movie just about that. Rosalie's is definitely the darkest. Rachelle Lefevre did not reprise her role as Victoria due to scheduling conflicts. Bryce Dallas Howard was offered the role in the first movie but rejected it because she thought the part was too small. Riley is played by Xavier Samuel who has been in movies such as Frankenstein, A Few Best Men, Spin Out, Fury, Love & Friendship, Blonde and Elvis. Bree (the kid) is played by Jodelle Ferland. You may have seen her in the horror movies Silent Hill, Case 39 and The Tall Man or Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital. Fun facts: Originally, the scene where Jacob carries Bella to mask her scent, Taylor Lautner was to push Kristen Stewart on a cart, but it did not look real enough so Taylor agreed to carry Kristen himself. His arms were extremely sore as they filmed the scene all day. In the stories that Billy Black tells at the bonfire, the third wife was originally going to be played by Kristen Stewart. She did film the scene but director David Slade and author Stephenie Meyer thought it had an unintentional comical effect. In certain scenes, the Cullens irises are completely black rather than their usual golden topaz color. While never directly said in the movies, the books explain that a vampire's irises turn black when they go too long without blood and need to feed. When Bella punches Jacob in the face after he kisses her, you see Taylor Lautner laughing for a split second. In each take they did, Taylor had a hard time keeping a straight face. Kristen Stewart received her high school diploma by correspondence one week before filming Bella's graduation scene. She took a mock graduation photo with an extra so she'd have a photo of herself graduating high school. Kristen Stewart wore a wig for this movie after cutting her hair short for the movie The Runaways. Jackson Rathbone (Jasper) is distantly related to Stonewall Jackson, a Confederate General fighting for the Confederacy in the Civil War. On the DVD commentary, Robert Pattinson makes fun of Edward's tendency to appear out of nowhere by comparing him to Batman. He, of course, would later go on to play Batman. Miranda Kerr and Vanessa Hudgens were considered to play Leah Clearwater. Tom Felton and Channing Tatum were considered to play Riley. Lastly, here is a funny BTS of them filming the scene where Bella strokes Jacob in his wolf form: https://youtu.be/vRqU-93mHns?si=q9-s6zX-fQdOKOHR. How they managed to do a decent take without bursting out laughing beats me 😂

John and Roxy, I love your guys reactions to these movies!!! You both are so much fun and I really appreciate your insight as well as you truly giving this saga a chance while watching it. So, since this one issue seemed to bother both of you a lot, I thought that I would try to offer some clarity, I hope that it helps. Maybe it wasn’t clear, but Edward is also a virgin. When he speaks about wanting to protect her virtue, he doesn’t mention his because he already believes that his soul is damned. He is worried about Bella’s soul. Also, he wasn’t asking her to wait to manipulate her into marrying him, he is very clear that he would respect her choices, regardless of whether he would be happy or not. It is part of his values to wait until after marriage. That is his boundary. It’s not about forcing her will like you mentioned. It’s just his boundary that she would also have to respect, imagine if the situation were reversed. Bella’s reluctance about marriage stems from her parents’ divorce. It’s not until her and Charlie talk that her POV begins to change when she learns he still believes in marriage as an institution. I can’t wait to see your reactions to the final two films!!! :)

Love how excited Roxy is for this franchise you can see the excitement/emotions bursting out in several scenes, can’t believe how much fun you guys are making this franchise! 😂 (I am a fan of the movies, but I know/understand the flaws)

Anthony Jackson

Love how much you guys are enjoying these! I was definitely looking forward to this one in particular, and your reactions did not disappoint! There's definitely more in the books that doesn't always translate well in the movies; some of which might answer some of your questions. But hopefully most will be explained by the events in the last two movies. Can't wait for the next one!!!
