Next Story Poll
Added 2024-11-30 03:07:52 +0000 UTCMulti-options will be enabled, but the top two picks will be rerun into a follow-up poll next week.
1-A Ballad of Snow and Flames (Name Pending): A semi-dark story featuring time-travelling Rhaella x Jon Snow.
Rhaella dies giving birth to Daenerys, only to wake up young again, right before she is condemned to a life of suffering by her parents, who themselves chose love over duty. In her fervent desire to get away from her fate as Aerys' wife, the young Rhaella desperately rushes into the world of magic, blood, and the divine, but playing with time and other forces beyond her understanding has consequences: her unsuspected grandson who is lingering between life and death after betrayal most vile is hurled in a foreign time and place.
A more moderate-sized story compared to SD.
2-The Bloody Rush: A crossover story featuring an older Ron Weasley, whose personal life turns into a veritable disaster, dies, only to wake up as the oldest living son of Hoster Tully. Pairing: Ron x Lyanna. Focus on politics, interpersonal relationships, magic-lite, and the clusterfuck that is Aerys' reign.
A more moderate-sized story compared to SD.
3-The Black Lily: A crossover story featuring Harry Potter x Fleur Delacour reborn in Dance Era Westeros as a Blackwood and a Bracken, respectively. Rivals to lovers. A greater focus on magic exploration, with all the eldritch present in ASOIAF, as well as fiefdom building and Riverlands/royal court tensions and politics.
Instead of Cedric, Fleur reaches the cup second, but Pettigrew butchers the entry into Little Hangleton's graveyard as he manages to kill both Fleur and Harry, who were busy squabbling over the cup.
Probably going to be quite the sizeable story spanning many years.
4-No Joy in Command: A time-travel crack treated seriously/semi-crack story featuring older Jon Snow, who is fed up with fighting after years of service at the Wall as the Long Night just doesn't end and is tossed into the Dance Era by falling through some eldritch hole.
But the world has other plans for the retired Lord Commander. It might be bitter-sweet or dark at times.
Featuring an eventual Jon Snow x Rhaena Targaryen (Daughter of Daemon and Laena).
A more moderate-sized story compared to SD.
5-The Snowy Riddle: A crossover story featuring Jon Snow reborn in the late 70s in magical Britain to a muggle father named Riddle, featuring a muggle-born Slytherin Jon Riddle x Hestia and Flora Carrow in the barrel of gunpowder that is magical Britain during Voldemort's Second Rise.
Moderate to medium-sized story compared to SD.
6-The Gilded Seahorse: A not-so-serious time-travel story featuring Jaime Lannister, who has just been hung by Mother Merciless and reborn as Rhaenys and Corlys Velaryon's third child. Pairing Jaime x Cassandra Baratheon.
It will be mostly a slightly more serious Jaime horsing around (his dragon included) the Dance Era and causing additional chaos.
Short to moderate-sized story compared to SD.
7-The Long Reach: A rags-to-riches story featuring a Self-Insert (Maekar Longwaters) into the son of the Lord of the enfeoffed House of Longwaters (the bastard line of Alyn Velaryon and Princess Elaena Targaryen) that is rewarded with Dunstonbury after the Peake Uprising. The main character will be the heir.
Political intrigue, scheming, ambition, and conflict as the bastard line-turned Lord struggles to find its rightful place in the Reach during the now-precarious rule of first Aegon Targaryen, then Aerys Targaryen. A semi-focus on duelling and tourneys, romance mostly unimportant.
A quite sizeable-sized story spanning many years.
Anyway, let's see who wins:

One thing to remember folks, it's not brought up a lot but one of the big reasons the brackens and blackwood's fued is because from their lines came the last true King of Rivers and tides. These house of mudds. Both Houses are one of the few that also used to rule the divisive River lands and have more land and men to call on then their Targaryen appointed liege Lords in the Tully's who were but a minor house before. Another thing cregan stark will marry a blacwood sister of the heir to the house and it's her counsel that sees him not do more during the hour of the wolf. Along with the north men joining the River lands after the war.

2024-12-03 09:01:39 +0000 UTCHarry/Fleur will always have my vote even in a setting I do not think I'll care for. The Rhaella story seems good just because I think I'd like her character, the crack story with older Jon also gets a vote even though SD has kind of Jon Snow'd me out. I hope they're not as complimentary of him as SD has been, he seems to be unbeatable/flawless in that. If the Harry/Fleur story makes the last vote I'll be voting for it, really enjoy that pair.

2024-12-02 07:05:27 +0000 UTCI think them not being "OP" here is relative in the sense that they will not just be able to magically waltz their way into doing whatever they want here for a bevy of their families have a longstanding blood feud/they are third in rank in the Westerosi social hierarchy pyramid structure as being members major lordly families but below the Targaryens and Wardens/Lord Paramounts (and Fleur will face even more challenges than Harry here as well a female in this world too). I think they will still manage to be plenty powerful though and hold their own against the Targs and the Tullys etc, but the aftermath of them doing so is what I would want to see if Gladiusx decides to go forward with this story.

2024-12-02 01:05:23 +0000 UTCwhile I agree with others that an OP Harry/Fluer would be less enjoyable, I'd hope they both grow in power so that they aren't pushed around to much by those sister fucking dragons. It's the dance so dragon heart string is possible, Fluer's wand was made with her grandmother's hair so you could have her have a loose understanding of wand craft with chapters of trial and error

2024-12-02 00:54:50 +0000 UTCThe Bloody Rush, The Black Lily and The Gilded Seahorse are my picks. Ron doesn't get a lot of credit but he is a good guy.

2024-12-01 18:43:04 +0000 UTCGet Ron, I am dying to read a good Ron Weasley in Westeros story who in canon is actually a bit more people pragmatic than is shown in films and may be a phenomenal player in westeros specially in his tactical awareness of battlefield. A Tully general who organises vulnerable riverrun lords into a great defensive system..

2024-12-01 10:46:29 +0000 UTCHonestly, Jon Snow and Harry Potter stories are oversaturated. The Ron Weasley story and Jaime Lannister story is much more unique and probably a better read since there is so few of them compared to the Jon Snow and Harry Potter ones.

2024-12-01 06:23:41 +0000 UTCIt was not meant to be Redemption story but Jaime horsing around like the proud gremlin he is.
Gladiusx
2024-12-01 00:16:19 +0000 UTCNgl all of them sound great with the exception of seahorse. I'm not a Jaime fan. While he is the Lannister that is most beloved (I include Tyrion in this) at the end of the day he was canonically too apathetic as he wallowed in self pity. I can never get behind him as a protagonist - there are some often recommended fanfics out there that I just can't get through because they try to redeem him.

2024-11-30 22:08:46 +0000 UTCGilded Seahorse sounds like an amazing story, too bad it won't get picked up. But i'll definitely be thinking about the possibilities of it for a while.

2024-11-30 19:31:35 +0000 UTCI'm always a sucker for a good Ron Weasley story and The Bloody Rush seems like a really interesting premise.

2024-11-30 15:41:36 +0000 UTCI’m disheartened to see the low number of votes for #5. My second pick is #1. But looking at the popular vote i honestly do prefer #3 over #4. Either way, all the ideas seem fantastic. Thank you!

2024-11-30 15:11:04 +0000 UTCI'd definitely would prefer if you would not mix up HP and GoT to be honest. And I think it's time for your Jon to explore more of his draconian ancestry. I'd love to have some more lore etc. from your writing so I'll be going for 1 and 4. And the dance is my favorite era, so there's that. As always, thanks!

David Karlsson
2024-11-30 03:59:32 +0000 UTCSounds good! And as you said with the Targs at their have dragons height as well as the Tullys (who they will also at least nominally have to defer to here), as well as their families longstanding disdain for each other it should quell any of the complaints that Harry and or Fleur will/would be "too OP" here in this story
NJ
2024-11-30 03:49:07 +0000 UTCNah, it's essentially fourth year Harry Potter with a spin and without a wand in an eldritch backdrop of ASOIAF. Far more challenging, and not even remotely op in the era of dragons.
Gladiusx
2024-11-30 03:41:33 +0000 UTCI like the idea of this one the best. Just need to know the extent of magic for both of them. If it's like Jon snow in the first story then it's too OP in this setting
David Karlsson
2024-11-30 03:39:04 +0000 UTCNo more Jon Snow fics! I’m tired of Jon Snow fics! Do you people not read anything else?!
Blessed Hitmann
2024-11-30 03:16:21 +0000 UTCHarry and Fleur as Bracken and Blackwood seems really the most intriguing to me for the fact that they are going to be in 2 major houses, but are not Paramounts/Wardens and or royals so there's some actual "bigger fish" so to speak that they will have to navigate as well as dealing with their families longstanding rivalry
NJ
2024-11-30 03:15:33 +0000 UTCWell time to pray for some Blackwood and Bracken magical chaos! Fingers crossed!

2024-11-30 03:14:40 +0000 UTCShouldn't be too hard to choose. This one looks fun. Oh, but this one is great too. And this one. And this one as well. Fuck, I like this idea a lot. Oh no... they're all good.
