The Out-Of-Placers #81

Kids never really fully appreciate all the stuff you do for them, ya know

Thanks as ever to Raptie for handling the character coloring and shading on this page!

Then this may have caused brain damage. Probably going along with my concept of being "over cooked". His/her brain might be a bit backed and not in the green plant way. xD

Daragoth

The gasping and the hacking makes me think he just overstayed his welcome. The egg was running out of resources and whatever it used to replace oxygen in the air tight incubator was starting to run low. In which case, vomiting is entirely understandable. The one thing I'm wondering is how he had enough food in his stomach to hork up anything in the first place.

Patrick Johnson

So based on what we know, wouldn't this possibly cause the yinglet to end up suffering. Not being able to survive in their "harsh" world? I do wonder if because the egg is over due if the yinglet will actually be rather large in body size. Though from what we say the other hatch-ling didn't vomit, so I wonder if it was a bit....overcooked. So to speak.

Daragoth

-insert coming out of the closet joke-

Daragoth

At least the finally came out of his shell.

Daragoth

So Yinglets breastfeed as well then? Fascinating. xD

Daragoth

More opportunity for hilarity.

StripeyArse

Ahh! Aww…

Threyon

The worst fate a yinglet can face. Existing. As a yinglet.

Max Last

?

Threyon

HOORAY GOOD COMIC

Val Salia

[X]'s Got Talent front-row judges *hate* this one

Val Salia

This one clearly has a peculiar genetic trait/advantage

Val Salia

But what if it's a yinglet??

Val Salia

MIGHT AS WELL BE, THE WEIRDO

Val Salia

Yehhhh that's the stuff, hits me right in the hypothetical bio-realism sci-fi parts

Val Salia

Poor kid, he hatched

Val Salia

Long overly-detailed awkward breastfeeding sequence, last 5 pages

Val Salia

Next thing you know it'll be complaining about the unfairness of existence in babytalk

Val Salia

SHOWING FEELINGS SUGGESTS VULNERABILITY RRRRGH

Val Salia

Yep. Between Isher and Yannit and Lopin and everything else he did as a human. He's become much less caring (at least outwardly) since becoming a Yinglet. Compensating maybe? Or just understandably grumpy as the universe continually bullies him.

ArcadeDragon

Kass is Samus and baby Ying is the infant Metroid. And now I need to learn to draw so I can make this.

Females (and certain males) prefer a smaller shelltooth, IIRC. Barfsalot here could end up very popular among his/her peers because of it, not to mention that it could help him/her speak Human without the typical accent.

steelabjur

That too, very good point...errr...observation. Also, I don't know if we're likely to see the end result, but my head canon will now be that after a childhood of being teased for it Barfsalot goes full Smilodon fang during the awkward years of puberty, then eventually grows into his/her still large and majestic shelltooth.

Max Last

Great now I’m sick

Jaws18301

That kids got talent! (for spewing)

Faraday Cage

I am impressed with the yinglets ability to projectile vomit XD

Egg tooth looks really small for a Yinglet, barely a nub.

steelabjur

What if it's a girl? Then Viz will be real happy.

T0mmen

Plot twist: Its Mori'rai?!

Corvin

Kass's feet/the entire leg structure during walking and running back were on point in this one. Very interesting attention to physiological detail. A++ would make a comment online where people can see me talking about Yinglet feet again. Also, aside from sparse fur, baby barfsalot seems to have a short snout, which explains why it failed at hatching. Possible counter point to my earlier supposition about thick-shelled eggs producing physically more mature yinglets (and thus better supporting that massive energy eating brain of a sentient creature...even a yinglet), however we don't know what traits are more likely to be tied to snout length (hurrhurrhurr, you know what they say...err, wait no.). Reduced olfactory, possibly, but also possibly reduced walleye perspective resulting in better direct focus. Not as good at smelling/180 degree ADHD danger vision, better at skilled tasks and patience. Also possible cognitive increase with less wiring devoted to sensory overload. ....or it could just be the perspective.

Max Last

lol

Thorin N. Tatge

I think he wasn't so tough before he got transformed. I'd call him more surly than tough, and mainly for cause.

Thorin N. Tatge

Hmm, fur seems a bit patchy. Hope the kid will be all right, and didn't hatch too soon.

Threyon

Eeee.. zhis kid puked so much, has no body mass left :P *facepalm* On a more serious note.. am happy to see Kass do zhis... but now of course eager to see what happens next.

Sesra

The joke's on you, Kass, Vizlet didn't mention the rare occurrence of newborn yinglet imprinting.

Matthew Vandiver

Despite Kass's tough exterior, he does seem to be a bit of a softie. He just doesn't want anyone to know.

What I like a out this is though Vizlet was hoping to trigger a “latent maternal instinct,” this is all perfectly in character for Kass already. He acts callous much of the time, but we know he’s a generous and caring person behind all that

Magitechnician

Newborn and already in debt. Kass is doing an excellent job of integrating Yinglets into human customs and culture!

ArcadeDragon

Oh my. Plot twist! Later in the comic, it is the kid that will save Kass' life

Loxen86

The miracle of life!
