Winning vote: an update to the Birdthing I drew years ago that I've been kinda using as my self-insert on and off

Every bit as angry and offended at/screaming at everything around it as I drew it 6-ish years ago.

So basically, it is an average bird

I would have loved feathered raptor based indrels. omgomg. Also I don't think basing a character design on raptors is a Nevrean rip-off at all. I am loving Nevreans and I compared them to your character as a compliment!

Imagine this perfect evolved advanced being meeting yinglets and trying to wrap it's head around the idea that yinglets maybe don't want to be told how to live and evolve and just wanna ying out sometimes. Going from perfect, graceful, and elegant to having a Yinglet epiphany spasm !!?! when they finally 'get' it.

I've been looking at that user icon and wondering: Who is this Val Salia and why are they so surprised and/or excited? Now I'm left wondering why this silly scared bird is your icon, as opposed to any number of other creations you could have chosen--in short, I know less than I did before.

Even though the Greater Yinglets seem to have come from Lesser Yinglets, I like this idea! Wouldn't it be funny for a few proud yings like Vizlet with some functioning lobes to be valiantly trying to hold together the ancient dignity of a departed race of fabulous wise and powerful space dragonpeacocks or something? (But mostly failing)

Looks like a dinosaur to me.

That looks fricken awesome. Does it come in tiny desk form? Having a little angry bird-raptor-thing running around the desktop would be pretty sweet.

Love the expressions! Birds are hard to make expressive, you do an awesome job

ArcadeDragon

"Who's a pretty bird?"

Raventail

It evolved from Jerk bird, to An Average Bird. It's pretty neat to see after the few years you drew it. Looks good.

Oh, right, we did know that already, didn't we? Possibly-Magical uplift. Still, we could go further back all the way to protozoan yingmebas. Or Yinglets could be a dimensional displacement, and the lesser Yinglet we know is a degeneration of a race for which the Yinglets are an intermediary missing link. Oh man. Now I want Conrad Starguard style time travel shenanigans and have a race of Yinglet Superior show up trying to force the Yinglet race back on track to their true destiny and Yinglets managing to ying their way to 'victory' and 'win' the chance to evolve naturally. I'm imagining Yinglet Superior as some sort of hyper-evolved looking Grey Alien/Ostrich looking cross breed that manages to make the whole Yinglety body style look graceful and elegant.

NOPE NOPE SCARY INTIMIDATING GO AWAY RAWWK

Val Salia

If you'll notice, this thing is the color of most of the sand and dirt in the comic. I've been hiding this character in nearly every page that takes place outside, as individual granules of dirt and rock.

Val Salia

Sopretty dinoburdy. Much skreem and very bite! Has backpack. Maybe is courier, maybe is a just a carrion bag.

Aspera

Before I read the text I thought it was a Yinglet precursor. Which, actually, seeing the evolutionary chain of the Yinglet sounds pretty cool, unless/especially if there is some big reveal in there like they're a degeneration of some really epic looking elder race.

Max Last

Fun fact: the species that eventually became the Indrel started out as a race of birdy dino-things like this, but I felt people might think I was ripping off nevreans!

Val Salia

So absolutely cute!

Vodyanoi

Now we search for the page he hides this thing in on oops :V

Wat

omg, this is awesome! floofy beep raptor! it kind of reminds me of a female Nevrean, haha.I love it.
