Quick Vibe Check *Resolution*
Added 2024-11-19 18:19:13 +0000 UTCHey Primal Pack! (and potentials)
Time for the 2nd one of maybe 3. I'm splitting them up so the poll selection doesn't get mixed up with multiple choice. So each poll is a single vote reflecting the most important option.
This one is about resolution. The standard for every video is 4k. The reason for this is max compatibility with the Quest 2 being the lowest target device, spec-wise. It's also what I test every release on to make sure it doesn't stutter, lag or do the cross-eyed thing. I also check for position and scaling. I go through a ton of these though and make often make revisions, sometimes multiple times, so things can fall through the cracks and I rely on you guys to roger up when there is an issue with a release, so I can address it ASAP and you guys have been pretty good about that, so thank you.
Anyway, since there are those of you on the high end too, I want to make sure you guys are properly represented as well, even if it's a gradual push to get there. So this will help me get a better idea of where everyone stands and how much you value this aspect of the content. I ran a similar poll on VRA, but there are enough of you over here, that I can set a focus specifically for AVR.
The challenge here again is render time, 8k 60fps is going to be 4-6x the time. so each individual animation will take several days to 2 weeks of non-stop rendering. So not impossible, I've had regular projects that took a month to render before, but impractical atm and I could potentially do standard version as back up if the queue gets overloaded and swap them out as I can.

you can try the release tomorrow to compare 8k to 4k

2024-11-22 06:39:03 +0000 UTCthe higher pixel density makes things look sharper in general, especially fine details like facial features an important factor for VR since so much of what's visible is background

2024-11-22 06:38:05 +0000 UTCI currently can only do 4k, but don't let that stop others from getting their 8k! :)

2024-11-19 22:57:42 +0000 UTCthe human eye can't even really register much higher than like...6-7k? So going higher than 8k would be kinda pointless

2024-11-19 21:44:49 +0000 UTCHonestly, the difference between 4K and 8K is not noticeable enough, i mean, it does not include a sx doll to justify itself xD

2024-11-19 21:06:00 +0000 UTCI've had no issues with 8k on quest 2 it makes it look more like native 4k. Regular 4k looks a little grainy

2024-11-19 20:44:15 +0000 UTCI've never even tried an 8k to see the difference, I got a quest 3, but 4k seems pretty darn good to me already
