Quick Vibe Check *FPS (Smoothness)*

Hey Primal Pack! (and potentials)

AVR just hit the 6 month mark so I want to do a few check-ins with you guys to see where the priority should lie for future content. So I'll be running a couple of these polls and then I'll check in from time to time.

So the first question. How important is FPS to you guys?

Are you noticing the difference in the releases, since there is a mix of 24, 30 and 60FPS?

Is frequency more important than smoothness? i.e. would you be willing to wait an extra week to get higher quality content if you had to choose between the two?

Pick the option that best aligns with your experience.

Any additional feedback, feel free to comment on this post, the community board or dm me directly.

*Update: Forgot to mention something. The main reason I bring up the waiting an extra week is most content being converted (and even the custom stuff) is create at 24fps or 30fps. 24fps is an industry standard, so when your watching tv and movies, that's usually what your getting. Yes, 60fps is the VR standard by contrast, but it takes a shit ton of time to get there. 2x the render time for 30fps and 2.5x for 24. To put that into perspective. A 30 second animation at 30fps could take 5 hrs to render. To push it to 60fps, now it's a 10hr render.

The more elaborate animations like the Nala one are even wilder. That one was 1278 frames at 30fps. So 60fps would be a 20hr render time. Several revisions were made to that one too. Salutierus tweaked the animation for VR POV. There was was weird stuff going on with the ground from the conversion of Eevee to Cycles, I think the fluids had to be tweaked at least once, so all together it was rendered about 4 or 5 times to get you guys the best version from it.

Comments

hmm, 90 can potentially be a milestone on the way to 120, though when we can hit 90 we'll probably be able to hit 120 which a significant change, since it's 1.5x vs 2x

I'm for 120fps and happy to wait, but if its unfeasible is 90fps a possibility?
