Good evening, everyone! I know I didn't make an update post last week, and that's mostly due to the nature of what I was working on at the time - dialogue! Writing dialogue is, by far, the most time-consuming aspect of this project, and it takes a lot of effort to get it to a point where my brain is content with how it sounds. Despite this, it's still one of my favorite elements to work on - it's just not super exciting to look at in a Patreon post.
But, oh boy, do I have a lot to share this week...
So! Starting out with the images and the videos - these depict what I've been spending most of my time on recently, and that's the follow-up to Progress Update #3. For those of you who played Version 0.0, you know there was no shrunken battle between the player and Rita, and that's because I was saving it for here - Version 0.1!
Rita's boss battle is my attempt at trying to scale up my experience in RPGMaker by testing out as many ideas as I can! This means a party larger than 1, unique skills for these additional characters, and more dynamic enemies. While this is just a prototype, it's already a significant step up (mechanically) from any of the fights in 0.0.
As of now, Rita has a "Hunger" stat that has a chance to tick up each turn. Once it reaches a threshold (currently 5, might change), she will nom one of your party members. If that party member reaches 0 HP while in her mouth, they'll get swallowed - hope you brought some Endurance Gems!
As always, there's loads more to say, but I'm going to break up the second part of this week's update into its own separate post, since it's not related to the game per se. Anywho, thank you all again for sticking with me, and I hope to get to know you all better over the coming weeks! ;)
