Hello hello! As the title indicates, this is the first progress update not just for Ver. 0.1 of The Hylann Defense Corps, but also in the project's history so far! It's also the first patron-exclusive post (apart from the test, which I won't count)!
At risk of sounding like a broken record, I wanted to once again offer my sincerest thanks to the (at present) 18 of you who chose to support a new project, and a new developer, here on Patreon. The past week or so has exceeded anything I thought I would be able to achieve in the first month, let alone the first WEEK. So, thank you - really - your response has not gone unnoticed!

Alrighty, moving onto the progress update! While 0.1 will see a number of changes, including a new character, the game's first dungeon, and more size-based content, it's the last one I want to focus on here.
One of the features I'm really itching to step into is combat that takes place outside of RPGMaker's battle system. I've attached a couple gameplay videos for those who are curious as to what I'm talking about. Even though RPGMaker's combat is reasonably flexible, it seems like a creative loss to not explore options outside of it as well.
The attached videos and pictures showcase the initial effort to break into this with a pair of giant hands that track and follow the player's character around the map, attacking if they get within a certain distance. In time, I'd like for them to be capable of grabbing and pushing the player, but for now, they just try and smoosh him.
Anywho, I could double the length of this post and still have plenty to say, so I'm going to cut it here before it gets out of...hand...? ;)
