i NEED ya’ll to listen to the demos of Nettles, Dust Bowl, and Waco, Texas before the album comes out to see how much different but perfect both versions are. we sat with those demos for yearsssss never knowing if they’d make the album. make it a patreon exclusive. the demos just make the listening experience with ethel so much better 🤍

We shared that characteristic, always recommending music to each other, dissecting songs and meanings, and being overall so passionate for what music could make us feel. I'm now estranged from my father and for good reason. I often think about how much he would've loved Preachers Daughter and the conversations we could've had. But I also wonder if he heard the album, he'd see parts of himself (more specifically in Hard Times) when it came to the abuse he inflicted on me as a child. I think that's why the album resonates with me on another level, because it makes me think of the what ifs that I will never get to experience and the experiences I have already overcome. I love watching y'all fully immerse yourselves into the music you listen to because it makes me feel just a bit closer to what could've been with my own father.
